CASE STUDIES
IN THE NAME OF HONOUR GALA AUCTION AND EXHIBITION
OBJECTIVE:
In order to maximise the exposure of ‘In The Name of Honour’, an exclusive gala auction
and exhibition organised by the Sara Charlton Charitable Foundation to raise funds for
victims of domestic violence, Curzon was brought on board to undertake a media
relations campaign, along with digital relations advisory, around the event. Held in
conjunction with top auction house Christie’s, the campaign sought to showcase both the
work of the foundation as well as the unique programme of the gala and exhibition.
CAMPAIGN:
A key challenge was to promote the work of the charity itself, without allowing for the gala
event to overshadow the reasons for which it was organised in the first place. In addition
to artworks for sale, a series of celebrity sketches were commissioned by top international
celebrities and figures, who were asked to draw either a women who is special to them, or
a picture related to domestic violence. These were then sold during a silent auction on the
night. Meanwhile, artists donating works were asked to also submit quotes about domestic
violence and their involvement in the project. An array of vertical press sectors were
approached, through a targeted media relations campaign, encompassing both the
charity aspects of the event as well as Contemporary arts, culture and society.
RESULTS:
The campaign generated interest in case studies and information on the Sara Charlton
Charitable Foundation’s work from a number of national broadsheets and also resulted in
comprehensive media coverage in a variety of consumer and trade media including
newspapers, magazines, TV and online. A live interview on BBC World News’ ‘Impact’
aired on the afternoon of the gala, while other coverage include The Independent, The Art
Newspaper, Louise Blouin Art Info, Evening Standard, Elle, The Sunday Times and The Sun. MEDIA RELATIONS

SOHAM FOR KIDS
OBJECTIVE:
Curzon PR was given the task of building awareness of the charity Soham for Kids.
Founded by Faiza Seth, Soham is a non-profit organisation providing education and all
round care for underprivileged children in an impoverished village just outside of
Hyderabad, India. Curzon’s objective was to raise the profile of the charity in its initial
phases and thereby attract much-needed donations and establish a board of advisors.
CAMPAIGN:
Curzon PR created a board of advisors and a fundraising committee for the charity. A
media relations campaign was implemented to build awareness for Soham and attract
corporate donations from the CSR sector as well as establish an infrastructure that would
support the charity in the long term.
RESULTS:
A prestigious board of advisors was created for Soham from the worlds of arts, media,
politics and society. A fundraising committee was then created, delivering a luncheon
that met its financial targets. Media coverage included The Evening Standard, Glamour
Magazine and Director Magazine, with speaker platforms at the Institute of Directors
alongside the FT’s Enterprise Correspondent Jonathan Moules. Soham founder Seth was
honoured by the Humanitarian Award at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards
(Lloyds TSB) and Management Today.

MOHAMMAD JAWAD
OBJECTIVE
Mohammad Jawad, a humanitarian plastic surgeon, was the subject of
the Oscar-winning documentary Saving Face. Curzon PR was brought
on board to promote Mr Jawad’s humanitarian work, using the
documentary as a vehicle for raising awareness of the case of acid
burn victims and to encourage funding for acid burn foundations.
CAMPAIGN
Curzon PR’s strategy included targeting key publications worldwide;
focusing on the Asian press as well as North America and Europe.
Curzon also targeted different angles within different publications in
order to widen the project’s remit and target the right correspondents,
including not just film and arts, but charity, health and South Asian
press in print media, broadcast and online. Multiple social media
platforms were created to disseminate key messages and engage with
audiences.
RESULTS
Top tier coverage was achieved in publications including The Times
(UK), The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Times of India, Al
Jazeera and the BBC. International awareness, brought in legislative
changes in Pakistan to prosecute the perpetrators of acid crimes.
Meanwhile, an increase in funding was reported by acid burn victim
foundations internationally. Mr Jawad became a Guest Lecturer at
Stanford University School of Medicine, along with receiving a number
of government and medical awards.

preeminent Russian cultural event in the UK, promoting cultural
exchange in the run up to the 2014 UK-Russia Year of Culture and

Raising funds for Care Pakistan, Official Curzon Charity Partner 2012
OBJECTIVE:
A media relations campaign around the exhibition Different Faces of Pakistan held at
London’s Asia House in order to promote Curzon’s Official Charity Partner for 2012, CARE
Pakistan, the largest educational NGO in Pakistan. The exhibition was held at a space
funded by the Rangoonwala Foundation each year in support of Pakistani art and culture,
and featured paintings by Modern and Contemporary masters, including Gulgee and
Sadequain. A percentage of proceeds from the exhibition were donated to CARE.
CAMPAIGN:
Curzon undertook a media relations campaign, targeting Asian and Diaspora press in
order to publicise the exhibition and CARE’s role in it. Print, digital and broadcast press
were approached. Curzon also managed the guest list, inviting key figures from the worlds
of art and politics, including members of the Conservative Friends of Pakistan and the
Royal United Services Institute (RUSI).
RESULTS:
The event received extensive press coverage from broadcast and print journalists from
International Press, UK and British Asian media, including two TV crews on the night - GEO
TV and Apex TV. Further coverage included, but was not limited to, BBC Radio Asian

SREBRENICA MEMORIAL
OBJECTIVE:
Curzon was tasked with raising the profile of the charity Remembering Srebrenica and its
public awareness campaigns teaching the consequences of hatred through the UK
Memorial of the 1995 Srebrenica Genocide in Bosnia. Held at Lancaster House on 11 July
2013, it marked the first time that the massacre was officially commemorated in Europe
outside of the Former Yugoslavia, as per a 2009 EU Decree. Curzon’s media relations
campaign sought to publicise the importance of remembering this tragic event.
CAMPAIGN:
By developing strong relationships with key journalists, Curzon targeted news, political
and public affairs correspondents, in particular foreign correspondents of top tier
international press and news desks that specialised in the Yugoslavian civil war. A further
focus on religious press and top Bosnian news outlets sought to expand the charity’s
initiatives to a wider audience. Curzon’s belief in the importance of Remembering
Srebrenica's mission saw us create a targeted media relations campaign to ensure the
Memorial was covered by mainstream media. Curzon worked closely with the Foreign
Office to bring messaging in line with that of international anti-hate and war crime
campaigns.
RESULTS:
Media coverage included various BBC broadcast channels, including a live interview with
author and survivor Hasan Nuhanovic on BBC World News’s top-rated show Impact,
alongside Martin Bell OBE, as well as the popular BBC radio programme Sunday. The
event was picked up widely by religious press, including The Vatican Insider and Church
Times, while attendees of the evening included representatives of The Guardian, The
Times, The Standard and The Huffington Post. Keynote speaker, Foreign Secretary the Rt
Hon William Hague also published an op-ed on the importance of the Memorial, further
bringing Remembering Srebrenica’s activities in line with international anti-hate initiatives.
