UPSTREAM,MID STREAM & DOWNSTREAM
Supply chain link in the oil and Gas industry
Exploration Production Refining Marketing Consumer
Study Design and Scope
Descriptive survey research designTo achieve the study objectives, Cross-
Sectional Survey Design will be usedThe cases will be used outsourcing
companies such as Tullow, Total SA, CNOOC & Heritage Oil
involved in exploration, production, refinery, marketing and distribution
Map of Uganda showing selected districts of the Albertine Graben
Hoima District (in red), located along Lake Albert, has been the site of the petroleum finds
Data collection, Processing and Analysis
Sample SelectionStratified random sampling will be
considered over the non-probabilistic methods
The different companies with direct and indirect relationship to the petroleum value chain formed the basis for stratification
These companies include Tullow Oil, CNOOC, Total SA, and Heritage oil will be the strata
SAMPLE SIZE
A total of 4 Oil companies¾ will be interviewedResulting 75%

Logit model
Reliability and Validity measure
Validity refers to how accurately the construct reflects what it intends to measure
reliability refers to the consistency of the results obtained
The Logit model will therefore used in this research study
Logit Model of a number P between 0 and 1 is given by the formulae:
Logit (P)= Log(P/1-P)=Log(p)-Log(1-P). This is in reduced form of a Logit model can be expressed as:
Y = α +βiXi +εWhere Y is dependent variable
(performance of logistics companies in the oil and gas sector =1, or not =0); α is a constant; Xi are the explanatory variables; βi are a vector of explanatory variable coefficients; and ε is error term
