Transcript of Chapter President’s Message The Legatus Mission Member...
Dear Legatus Friends,
Last year, Bill Brown promised us a “REALLY REALLY big year”. He and the Board delivered! The 2017 Board provided us with excellent speakers on thought provoking topics that both educated and inspired us. This year’s Board is committed to continuing this excellence. Troy King and Lusant Ordonez have arranged a tremendous line up of speakers for 2018. Our meetings will address:
• Catholics Come Home• Money, Greed, and God• Authentic Christian Leadership• Myths Christians Believe about Wealth and Poverty• Five Temptations of a CEO
We will start the year off with a bang, as the Annual National Summit is held right here, in our back yard (January 25 – 27, 2018 at the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes Orlando). In April, Bill Orosz (Special Events Director) has arranged an exciting trip to Washington, DC that culminates with a visit to the recently opened Bible Museum.
This next year wouldn’t be possible without the concerted and much appreciated efforts of several people. I want to thank Fr. Stephen Parkes for his continued enthusiastic, faith-filled leadership of our chapter. His leadership inspires us all to fulfill the Legatus mission to study, live, and spread the Faith in our business, professional, and personal lives. Many thanks also to Sarah Perfito, Chapter Coordinator, who - with her endless energy and positive attitude - continues to make our Chapter run smoothly. I also wish to thank all the Board members and Membership Committee members who each enthusiastically stepped up to help our Chapter in 2018.
Legatus has been a blessing for Anne and me. In 2001, we were looking for a faith-based organization that we could join as a couple – Legatus was the perfect answer to our prayers. Over the years, Legatus has helped us to draw closer to God and to each other. We have made tremendous lifelong friends, and shared fantastic times with them. As 2018 dawns, we look forward to sharing faith-filled, inspiring, fun times with our Legatus family.
Yours in Christ,
David D. Dore2018 Chapter President

Chef John Folse, born in St. James Parish in 1946, learned early that the secrets of Cajun cooking lay in the unique ingredients of Louisiana’s swamp floor pantry. Folse seasoned these raw ingredients with his passion for Louisiana culture and cuisine, and from his cast iron pots emerged Chef John Folse & Company. When Folse opened Lafitte’s Landing Restaurant in 1978 in Donaldsonville, he set out to market his restaurant by taking “a taste of Louisiana” worldwide. He introduced Louisiana’s indigenous cuisine to Japan in 1985, Beijing in 1986 and Hong Kong and Paris in 1987. In 1988, Folse made international headlines with the opening of “Lafitte’s Landing East” in Moscow during the Presidential Summit between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev. In 1989, Folse was the first non-Italian chef to create the Vatican State Dinner in Rome. Promotional restaurants also included London in 1991 and 1993, Bogota in 1991, Taipei in 1992 and 1994 and Seoul in 1994. .”
