In Memory – Jack R. Karp, SIORBorn in 1938, Jack Russell Karp started his career in commercial real estate in 1962, andfounded National Properties Group, a full-service brokerage company, in 1974. He soldor acquired millions of square feet of industrial and office properties on behalf of hisclients, focusing in the South Bay. His expertise ranged from sale leasebacks, locationstudies, facility acquisitions, and development and marketing of an industrial park acrossthe country. In addition to service to his community, Jack served as Past President ofAIR, a neutral for the American Arbitration Association, and earned the SIOR Designation

in 1967. In spite of all his professional accomplishments, Jack’s greatest pride was his family. He is survivedby wife Lois, sons Timothy (wife Kim) and Adam (wife Cathy), and grandchildren Meggie, Ethan and Lucy.

Major topics of discussion throughoutthe conference included how to service bigcompanies, tech’s impact on industrial property,office investment trends and preparing forthreats to real estate infrastructure. “It wasspectacular to see members come togetherfrom twelve different countries to exchangevaluable insights and ideas about importantreal estate issues,” said SIOR Global PresidentGeoffrey Kassleman.

Jim “The Rookie” Morris to Speak at SIOR NightJim’s Cinderella story serves as testimony to the power of dreams and their abilityto inspire and transform human life. His meteoric rise from 35-year old high schoolteacher to flame-throwing major league pitcher in three months made cinematic historywith the release of The Rookie, starring Dennis Quaid. Jim’s rise from obscurity becamethe feel-good story of 1999 and 2000. Jim Morris signed with the Los Angeles Dodgersand retired from baseball in 2001.

Jim lives with his family near San Antonio and travels theworld as America’s foremost inspirational and motivationalspeaker. His story has become an inspiration to anyoneinterested in overcoming life’s obstacles and living theirdreams. Jim has participated in such prestigious events

as The Million Dollar Round Table, numerous speaker showcases, and is the authorof “The Rookie.”

Jim’s story has provided a platform to give back, inspire and encourage peopleof all backgrounds and ages to pursue their dreams and never give up!
