Being a correctional officer for a state prison, or a detention officer for a county or city, is a law enforcement type of job with arrest powers and the authority for use of force.

The Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) employs over 10,000 professionals.

To work for ADC, you need to be 21 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.

• The Arizona Correctional Officer’s Training Academy (CODA), which is located in the foothills of Tucson, Arizona, is a seven week live-in academy where room and board is provided for the recruits.
