• You can’t upload a multiple page document to the iPad.

• Instead, each page must be saved as a standalone file.

• Each of these standalone files is an article.

• When you are designing an InDesign publication for the iPad, you can place sound and video files as you normally would, with one important exception: in order for a sound or video file to play, it must be on the document page.

• While auto-playing sound and video files are fairly common in iPad presentations, you will find many times that you don’t want them to play automatically.

• You could add artwork, a “play” button, or text that indicates that it needs to be tapped to be played for video or audio.

• You can think of your Adobe account as storage space that they have online with Adobe.

• When you create a folio in the Folio Builder panel, that content is automatically uploaded to your Adobe account.

• The term folio refers to a sheet of paper folded once to make two leaves – or four pages – of a book.

• In the Folio Builder panel, the folio is the complete publication – and it contains all the articles in the publication.

• Tablet presentations—like those on an iPad—have three basic orientations: Portrait Only Folio, Landscape Only Folio, and Portrait and Landscape Folio.

• It is important that the orientation you choose in the New Folio dialog box is the same as the orientation of the articles that will be added to the folio.

• The formats listed in the menu are JPEG, PNG and PDF. These are all image formats. This is because InDesign documents are converted to images when they’re added to a folio as articles.

• The Smooth Scrolling option controls how you can swipe from page to page (article to article) on your tablet device.

• If Smooth Scrolling is activated, they can have half of one page and half of the subsequent page both visible on the tablet screen.

• The folios you create in InDesign do not need to be saved. They exist in your online Adobe account and will appear and be accessible in your Folio Builder panel whenever you open InDesign and are connected to the Internet.
