General Project Planning This period will need intensive brainstorming and careful lay-outing of plans which involves experts of different fields especially the engineering and the economic experts. As an initial requirement for any business establishment, the feasibility studies for the project will be done for the first 7 months of the project time table. In this part of developing the business, a thorough examination regarding the profitability and acceptability of the project is conducted. The next 5 months will be spent for the EIA. The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the project is done to ensure that once the plans for the project are in place, the natural resources will be preserved. The EIA also includes studies about the culture and traditions of people living in the vicinity of the project, who must not be adversely affected by the project. B. Establishment of the Business After the initial project planning and EIA, the business itself must be established legally for the next month. This is done by registration of the business to the local government, Securities and Exchange Commission, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and other government institutions. PROJECT TIME TABLE

    A. General Project Planning

This period will need intensive brainstorming and careful lay-outing of plans

which involves experts of different fields especially the engineering and the economic

    experts.

As an initial requirement for any business establishment, the feasibility studies for

the project will be done for the first 7 months of the project time table. In this part of

developing the business, a thorough examination regarding the profitability and

acceptability of the project is conducted.

The next 5 months will be spent for the EIA. The Environmental Impact

Assessment (EIA) of the project is done to ensure that once the plans for the project are

in place, the natural resources will be preserved. The EIA also includes studies about the

culture and traditions of people living in the vicinity of the project, who must not be

    adversely affected by the project.

    B. Establishment of the Business

After the initial project planning and EIA, the business itself must be established

legally for the next month. This is done by registration of the business to the local

government, Securities and Exchange Commission, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and

other government institutions. The following are some of the documents that must be

    secured.

    C. Materialization of the Project

In this stage, the project starts with the preparation of the detailed engineering

design. After this has been established, the building construction begins. Along with the

construction of the facilities, preparations for the acquisition of the equipments are also

    being done.

Importation of equipment starts with the signing of Pro-Forma Invoice from the

manufacturer. Then a Letter of Credit will be forwarded to a commercial bank which will

in turn submit the Letter of Credit to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). When the

Letter of Credit is approved by the BSP, actual construction of the equipment may begin.

When the equipment is ready for importation, the foreign company will send an advanced

copy of the shipping document which includes:

    Invoice,

Typically, the arrival of machinery will last for 6-8 months. Upon arrival of the

equipments, they will be inspected for possible defects before installation. Also, before

the actual production begins, trial runs must be done to determine if the actual units

produce the right amount and quality of products.

    D. Hiring of Personnel

At this period, the screening of the applicants for the different positions will be

done. After the recruitment, orientation and training of the personnel for their respective

    duties and responsibilities follows.

    E. Harvesting of Stalks

At this period, the harvesting of stalks is done since stalk collection for Tobacco

are done on the months of March to April, where in the tobacco leaves are in the right

maturity for collection. It is also necessary to harvest the stalks right before the actual

operation to avoid prolonged storage of the stalks which normally causes quality

    degradation.

    F. Start of Production

After the completion of trial runs and hiring of personnel, the actual production

can start. The rate of production will then be a function of several factors including,

    market supply and demand.
