Methods to put fire out (extinguish)

• Starving = removing the fuel.• Smothering = removing the oxygen.• Cooling = removing the heat.

Fire procedure

• Raise the alarm.• Call the fire brigade.• Turn of gas and electricity supply. • Close doors and windows.• Leave the building and go to the

assembly point.

Fire risk assessment

• Identify the fire hazards.• Identify the people at risk.• Evaluate the risks.• Record the findings.• Review and revise risk assessment.

The fire safety orders are enforced by the local fire brigade. However, there are other enforcing agencies e.g. Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
