Civil War Divides China

Americans Fight in Korea

90,000 N. Korean troops with Soviet tanks and weapons. They took over Seoul (the S. Korean capital). US came in to help S. Korea. Part of the Truman Doctrine. MacArthur (WWII hero) led the counterattack. Battle ended up at the 38th parallel after pushing up to the Chinese border and involving the Chinese. We are still at the 38th parallel.

Who: Truman, UN, USSR, China, Mao, MacArthur.

What: North Korea was turning communist like China, south Korea wanted to be capitalist. USSR and China helped N. Korea, US helped S. Korea. The natural division of land was on the 38th parallel. North Korea invaded S. Korea with USSR help.
