What Is Backup Center

Function of Backup Center

Can provide backup interface for any interface on a router (except dialer interface)

Any interface on a router can be taken as the backup interface of other interfaces (or logic channels)

Can provide backup to a certain logic channel on a interface. The backup interface can be an interfaceand can also be a certain logic channel on the interface (the logic channel referred here can be thevirtual circuit of X.25 and frame relay, and can also be a certain dialer map of a dialer interface)

For a main interface, can provide it with many backup interfaces. When a fault happens to the maininterface, these backup interfaces can decide a usage sequence according to their priorities

For an interface with many logic channels (such as BRI and PRI interfaces), can provide backup forseveral main interfaces.

Enter into the configuration mode of a main interface that uses backup functionSpecify the backup interface and its priority used by the main interface

Configure switchover condition between main and backup interfaces (optional)

Set state-judging conditions when the main interface is a logic channel (optional)

Set state-judging conditions when the backup interface is a logic channel (optional)

Configure routes for main and backup interfaces. No matter using dynamic route or static route,the main and backup interfaces all need to have a route to reach destination network
