STRUCTURED DEVELOPMENT VERSUS OBJECT-ORIENTED

DEVELOPMENT

Page 3: CHAPTER 1 : PART 1 INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND DEVELOPMENT PREPARED BY: SITI ASSILAH BT NAZLI FATIN ZHAFIRAH BT MOHD ZELANI SYAFA’ BT KAMARUDIN.

STRUCTURED DEVELOPMENT OBJECT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT

• Predominantly data driven system that transform data from one form into another form or information

• Viewed as a collection of objects

• Employs various diagrams and documentation standards for describing the requirement of Information System

• Object is a representation of a thing. Eg: customer containing attributes such as name and telephone number also may perform some actions such as create new customer and delete customer.

Page 4: CHAPTER 1 : PART 1 INTRODUCTION TO INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND DEVELOPMENT PREPARED BY: SITI ASSILAH BT NAZLI FATIN ZHAFIRAH BT MOHD ZELANI SYAFA’ BT KAMARUDIN.

STRUCTURED DEVELOPMENT OBJECT-ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT

• Users need to participate in the analysis and design process as they are the people who will use the new system

• System developer first defines the object needed in the new or revised Information System.

• Drawback: Too much time to create and too many documentations

• Unified Modeling Language use to describe Information System.

PROJECT TEAM SUGGESTIONS

End user•End users will directly interact with the information systems. •They supply data and receive information from the information system.

PROJECT TEAM SUGGESTIONS

Change Management Analyst•Focus on people and management issues.•Must have significant training and experience in organizational behaviour in general.

The company should hire other people to ensure that adequate documentation and support is available to users, providing user training on the new system and developing strategies to overcome resistance to change.
