to win for us a crown of glory:
O Lord Jesus Christ, who for our salvation didst
lay aside thy crown of glory to accept a crownof thorns: Mercifully grant that we may so live by the grace thy suffering hath secured that, when thou comest to be our Judge, we may be
placed on thy right hand and receive the crown

Almighty God, whose most dear Son went notup to joy but first he suffered pain and enterednot into glory before he was crucified:
Mercifully grant that we walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through the same thy Son JesusChrist our Lord. Amen.

death of the cross:
Let us pray. Lord Jesus Christ, who didst stretch
out thine arms of love on the hard wood of the
cross that everyone might come within reach of thy saving embrace: so clothe us in thy Spiritthat we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know thee to theknowledge and love of thee; for the honor of thy
Name, w ho livest and reignest with the Father and the same Holy Spirit, one God, for ever andever. Amen.
