A GUIDE TO CHANGING THE TIRE OF A WHEELBARROW

Follow these simple steps to change the tubeless or tube-type tire on your wheelbarrow

• Both types of wheelbarrow tires, tubeless and tube-types, can be changed in a similar fashion

• Some tires have inflatable inner tubes while others are made of solid urethane, which means buying an entirely new wheel

Necessary Tools

• New Tire

• Crescent Wrench

• Dish Soap

• Screwdriver or Tire Iron

• Optional: Crowbar

Starting: Steps 1 & 2

1. Select Replacement Tire

• Choose adequate tire height to prevent wheelbarrow from dragging

2. Remove Old Tire

• Locate wheel nut and remove pin

• Put pin to one side and do not lose it

• A crowbar can help gently remove tire

3. Remove Rim from the Tire

• Release air from tire to make removing rim easier

• If difficulty arises, use screwdriver or Overstock Wheel’s tire iron set to lift tire away from rim

*If you are replacing the whole wheel, move on to Step 8.

Step 3*

Steps 4 & 5

4. Use Dish Soap

• Before putting on new tire use dish soap to lube tire beads (the edge of a tire that sits on the rim) before putting on new tire

5. Apply Tire Beads*

• Work one side of the tire beads over the lip of rim using our Overstock Wheel’s tire iron set

*Note: If Installing an Inner Tube

• Place inner tube inside tire

• Make sure the valve system is properly placed

Steps 6 & 7

6. Reconnect Tire with Rim

• Work the other side of tire bead using tire iron set until tire is completely on rim

7. Inflate the Tire

• Only do so once tire is securely and completely on rim

Steps 8 – 10 (For replacing the whole wheel)

8. Center New Tire

• Some wheelbarrows have spacers that hold the tire in its proper position

9. Replace Pin in the Wheel Nut

10. Check Tire for Sturdiness
