General topic: Changes Detailed topic: Changes in moral values Recently, there has been an opinion that the moral values nowadays are being deteriorated in the majority of many people. It is true to claim that in the competitive society these days, it is common for a part of the population to take advantage for themselves without considering the moral values. Simply, you can see that even in the educational environment there are still some cheating in examinations to get high scores or lying in order to play truant. However, I personally believe that, with a more optimistic view, there has been some considerable changes in moral values of our modern society. In aspect of health, mercy killing is among the greatest feats in modern moral values. The fact is that in the past, people tended to believe that the longer the patient lived, the more he or she could benefit from it. That’s the reason why people strongly disapproved of mercy killing and managed to maintain the patient’s life as long as possible. But the point is they don’t realize that in some cases of incurable diseases, not only the physical and mental pain that the patient had to suffer from but also the financial burden of his or her family. Nevertheless, in this day and age, with these changes in the moral ethics, mercy killing has been legalized. Just after a few seconds, it will stop all the horrible long-term pain that person has been suffering from. Another changes in morality can be seen from some government’s consideration of eliminating death penalty. The concept in which a life being deprived need to be compensated by another life has been existing for such a long time. However, currently, capital punishment has been said to be incompatible
