• Or person have tried to change a number of times without success and he/she has become demoralized by the whole process
19
6 Stages of Change or Change Cycle (4)
Person is aware of the benefits of change but is also aware of the costs. This balance between the costs and benefits of changing can keep person stuck in this stage for long periods of time
So he/she is deciding whether stay with his/her existing behaviors and attitudes or should try to change to something new?

22

The goal of the maintenance stage is to maintain the new status quo

People work to prevent relapse and consolidate the gains attained during action

Maintenance
23
6 Stages of Change or Change Cycle (8)

This is not inevitable and should not be seen as failure. Often people will Relapse several times before they finally succeed in making a permanent to a new set of behaviors
