and your families!!! May you experience the joy, peace and blessings that only Jesus, the Christ can bring. We extend a special welcome to visitors and those worshiping with us for the first time. If you are new to the area or just haven’t been here in awhile, please consider joining us on a permanent basis. We would love to have you! We aim for our worship here to be joyful and uplifting. Worship of the Lord through music and public prayer bring us together to hear God's Word and be nourished by Jesus' Body and Blood in the Eucharist. If any of you have questions about the Catholic Church in general, or our parish in particular, please do not hesitate to contact me or one of our other Staff Members. We want you to feel welcome here. We also hope that you may experience God's presence here in a unique, living way through our worship and through our members. Because New Year's Day is on a Friday this year, it is a holy day. We celebrate the Solemnity of Mary - Mother of God, and the beginning of the New Year. It is a very important celebration in honor of our Lady and we will celebrate one Mass on New Year's Eve at 5 PM (Thursday, Dec. 31) and one Mass on New Year's Day (Friday, Jan 1) at 10 AM. What a great way to start the new year - by participating at Mass and reflecting on Mary as the Mother of God and the Mother of the Church. Again, we will have one of these Masses recorded for those of you at home. The Season of Christmas lasts from December 25th through Sunday, January 10th, the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. The world begins the holiday season early, shortly after Halloween, and then is always in a hurry to end it. On the day after Christmas, the decorations disappear from the stores, the Christmas music ends and we move on. But the Church gives us an entire season to celebrate and reflect on the awesome mystery of God becoming one of us in the person of Jesus. Let’s make the most of the entire season! Have a very, Merry and Blessed Christmas Season!!

Eucharistic Adoration takes place every Tuesday from noon until 4:30 PM in the church. You are welcome to come at any time for adoration, reflection, and personal prayer time. We ask that you still wear your mask, and sanitize your hands when you come into the building. who passed between Oct. 2019 and Oct. 2020 should see Lisa Bittner after any weekend mass, or the office once the office is open again. They belong to the family members now.

All of the Vincentians send our prayers to the people of the parish during this week of our Lord’s birth. We appreciate the support that you have provided throughout this year. It allows us to continue to minister to the poor in our midst. The kindness that you show to those that you will never meet is still needed. We have all been affected by the pandemic this year. We still do our best to serve those who seek us out. One of our members offers this reflection. She has been a home visitor for almost ten years. The fact that we cannot make home visits at this time has affected her in both positive and negative ways. She certainly worries more for the people that we help, because we are often their last resort before either being evicted or having utilities shut off. She worries that the funding that we need to provide aid to those requesting help will not be available due to low mass attendance. We are not using the top hats. That is also a concern. She has, however, found more time while staying at home to pray for those in need. She and her husband have not returned to in person mass yet, but have changed to online giving including SVDP. She hopes by doing these things, that they can still help those who need us. Prayerfully consider how you can join with us as well.

Thank you to all who donated to Advent Giving Tree Display! Your generous donations of gift cards and generic items helped several families in our own community. We helped over 60 people in those families with gift cards and toys for their children. The generic items and some gift cards helped sixteen organizations in our surrounding area. This year we organized a different method for you to donate. Through the display, website, eBlast, and Amazon wish list, your donations closely matched last year. We are very appreciative of your willing to give to this project. Thank you to Amy and Tina who are amazing at coordinating this effort. Thank you to Rob for delivering gifts this year and in the past. And thank you to the St. Thomas a’Becket staff for their support in this endeavor.

Nicene Creed:

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God,

begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;

through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,

and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried,

and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
