NEWS FROM MRS. GATE’S
ART ROOM
In Art class during September, Mrs. Gates’ classes
recalled what happened on September 11, 2001.
After watching video clips from that day and
listening to patriotic songs about that day, each
student created a collage of images and messages
for their poster depicting the events of 9-11.
Several students’ posters were put on display at
the School Board Office for the month of
October: Odalys Arroyo, Dylan Clowser, Vanessa
David, Alex Glass, Juan Mamboyo, Francisco
Martinez, Sarahi Rivas, Mannisa Thomas, Alinor
Veizaga, Julie White and Nicholas Winston.
We recycle at CMS! Please bring in old cell phones,
printer ink, and laser cartridges. We earn money for
our school just for recycling the things you were going
to throw away!

CAFÉ BOOKS
Teens at area schools eat lunch in the school library
and talk about the latest and hottest books published
for teenagers. Mrs. Puleo "pitched" the titles in English
classes and has over 130 students who have signed up
to participate. After reading their choices from
selected titles, the teens share their thoughts with
each other. The ultimate goal is to produce a booklist
of each school's Top Picks.
112 students crammed the library for the initial
meeting of Cafe Book. Every copy of each book was
immediately snatched up and many holds were placed.
The next Cafe Book meeting is Thursday, October 6th.
6ers Cafe will have their kick-off meeting on
Wednesday, September 28th. Over 60 sixth graders
have signed up to participate in this lunch time reading
club, just for sixth grade students.
