CompetitionPlacesforQualificationWherepreviouscompetitionplacesareconsideredtodetermineprogressiontothenextlevel,thefollowingapplies:
1. Onlyplacesawardedatorpriortothiseventthepreviousyearareconsidered(theCalendarYearRule)*2. Onlyplacesincategoriesthathadaminimumof6entriesareconsidered**3. Onlyplacesatmajorrecognisedeventswithcomparablelevelsandqualificationrequirementsareconsidered***

CompetitorsqualifyingforahigherlevelofFreestyleviaaplacingautomaticallyqualifyforthathigherlevelinDWASbydefaultandviceversa.
Competitorsfoundtobewithholdinginformationonrelevantpriorplacesorotherqualifyingcriteriaontheirentryformmaybedisqualified.Anyrelevantinformationoccurringbetweensubmissionoftheentryformandtheactualcompetitionneedstobedisclosedbythecompetitorbeforethestartoftheweekendevent.

Asthepointssystemsareusuallybasedonacompetitor’scompetitionhistory,thetimefactorfordancerswithmoreorlessthanoneandtwoyearsexperiencethatisusedACDCandsomeothernationalcompetitionsdoesnoteasilytranslate.
OurgeneralruleatACDCisthereforeasfollows:
1. IfyouqualifyforatimebasedlevelatACDC(ieBeginner,Intermediate<2YrsandIntermediatePlus)butqualifiedatanothereventforalevellowerthanthecomparablelevelinthetableabove,thenyourresultfromthatlevelwillnotbeapplicableforqualificationatthisevent.EXAMPLE1:IfyouqualifyforIntermediatePlusatACDCbecauseyouhavebeendancingModernJiveformorethantwoyears,butcompetedatLevel1atapointsbasedeventbecauseyouarenewtocompetitions,yourresultfromthateventwillnotbeconsideredrelevanttoyourqualificationforACDC.
2. IfyouqualifyforalevelatACDCthatisbasedoncompetitionplacings(ieAdvancedandChampions)butqualifiedatanothereventforalevelHIGHERthanthecomparablelevelinthetableabove,thenyourresultfromthatlevelMAYbeapplicableforqualificationatACDCbutmaynotnecessarilybeconsideredforthepurposeofstayingatthatlevel(seereferencein‘DancingUp’below).EXAMPLE2:Ifyoudon’tyetqualifyforChampionsatACDCbuthavecompetedinLevel4atapointsbasedevent,yourresultmayormaynotcountforyourAdvancedstatusandisunlikelytomeaninstantqualificationtostayinChampionslevelatACDC.
Asageneralsummary,ifyouplacedinacategoryatanothereventandwerecompetingagainstdancerswhoqualifyforalowerlevelthanyou(atACDC),yourplaceisunlikelytocountforqualificationatACDC.
Inallcasestheminimum6entriesruleappliesforanyresulttobeconsidered.
Inaddition,placesawardedincategorieswiththerequiredminimum6entriesbutwithinsufficientjudgesatthehighestlevel(sometimesresultinginaselfjudgingsystem)mayormaynotbeconsidered.
Incasesof‘mayormaynotbeapplicable/considered’pleasecontacttheACDCEventDirectorfordecisiononyourlevelbeforecompletingyourentryformandcommittingtopartnerships.

DancingUpDWAS:Inveryexceptionalcases,competitorsmaybeapprovedbytheEventDirectorto‘danceup’onelevelhigherthantheiractualqualifyinglevelinDWAS.Competitors‘dancingup’whodonotplace1st,2ndor3rdatthatlevelmayreverttotheiractuallevelatfutureevents,providedtheyarenotbreachinganytimebasedprogressionrules.Competitorswhoplacewhen‘dancingup’mustthenstayatthatlevel(forbothDWASANDFreestyle),andtheCalendarYearrulebecomesvoid.
Freestyle(notincludingProAm):Whenonepartnerqualifies/isconsideredeligibleforahigherlevelthantheother,theFreestylepartnershipmustcompeteatthelevelappropriateforthemoreexperiencedmember.Ina‘danceup’situation,thetwodancersmustbenomorethanonelevelapartunlesspriorapprovalforanexceptionhasbeengrantedbytheEventDirector.ThedancerswillbothstilldanceattheirindividuallevelforDWAS.Itisimportanttonotethatcompetitorswhoplacewhen‘dancingup’mustthenstayatthatlevel(forbothFreestyleANDDWAS),andtheCalendarYearrulebecomesvoid.
CompetingatMultipleLevelsWiththeexceptionoftheProinProAmFreestyle,dancersarenotpermittedtocompeteintwolevelsofthesamecategory.
Forexample,adancermaycompeteattheirownlevelinAdvancedDWASand‘danceup’totheirpartner’slevelinChampionsFreestyle,howevertheymayNOTdanceinChampionsFreestyleANDinAdvancedFreestyle.
NotethatIntermediatePlusOver40sFreestyleandIntermediatePlusFreestylearetwodifferentcategories,thereforeanIntermediatePlusOver40sFreestyleentrantmay‘danceup’oneleveltoAdvancedFreestyle(OpenAge)duetoahigherlevelpartneraswellasenteringIntermediatePlusOver40sFreestyle,ontheunderstandingthatiftheyplaceinAdvancedFreestyletheywillnolongerbeeligiblefortheOver40scategoryatourfutureeventsasitispurelyfordancerswhoqualifyforIntermediatePlus.
Likewise,acompetitorwhoisover40butbelowIntermediatePlusmaydanceuptoIntermediatePlusOver40sFreestyleduetotheirpartner’shigherlevel,howeverthisisONLYavailabletoonelevelbelow,ieIntermediate<2yrs.IfthatcoupleshouldplaceinOver40sthelowerleveldancershallnotbeconsideredIntermediatePlusuntiltherelevantamountoftimehaspassedtotakethemover2years.
Lead/FollowRolesIncategorieswherebothhalvesofthepartnershiphavemadethedecisiontocompeteasanontraditionalpartnership(ienotnecessarilyamaleleaderandafemalefollower),anygendercombinationinanyroleispermitted,ontheunderstandingthatthepersontakingtheroleofleaderremainstheleaderforthedurationofthedance(leniencegiveninTriples,Steals,ShowcaseandTeamwhereadancermayswaprolesatanypointduringthedance).
Onthisbasis,DWAScompetitorsidentifiedasfemalesmustdanceasfollowersandthoseidentifiedasmalesmustdanceasleaders.
Incategorieswhereanycombinationispermitted,itisontheunderstandingthatitisNOTaBattleoftheSexesstylecompetitionandallcompetitorsmustexecutemovesanddressincostumesappropriatetothenatureoftheevent.Anycompetitorsnotrespectingthisbasicetiquettemaybedisqualifiedfromthecompetition.
MinimumAgeAllcompetitorsmustbe15yearsorover.CompetitorsunderthisagemayapplytotheEventDirectorforanexception.Anycompetitorsundertheage18willbeaskedtoprovidewrittenconsentfromtheirparent/guardianandmusthaveaparent/guardianpresentatthecompetitionvenuewiththematalltimes.

Intheheatsandsemifinals,competitorsarejudgedcomparativelyagainstALLcompetitorsacrosstheround.Judgesareaskedtoselectanumberof‘Definites’andanumberoffirstandsecondchoice‘Alternates’togothroughtothenextround,basedonthecriteriaandguidelinesgivenintheJudgingCriteriasectionbelow.This‘callback’systemdifferstoa‘ranking’systemthatcomparescompetitorsonlyagainsttheothercompetitorsintheheatinwhichtheyaredancing.

ChampionsFreestyleFinalSongChoicesTheSpotlightcomponentoftheChampionsFreestyleFinalwillinvolvethreesongsforeachcouple.TwosongsarepreselectedbytheEventDirector(totallingapproximately2.5minutesandthesamesongsforeachcouple).Thethirdsongofapproximately1minute(whichmaybeplayedeitherfirstorlast)willbeoneofthreechoicesprovidedbyeverycoupleenteringChampionsFreestylebeforetheclosingdateforentries.
Requirementsofsongsubmissions:
1. InlinewiththespeedrangeintheChampionslevelheats,yourthreechoicesmustbebetween100and165BPMandhavea4/4(orequivalent)timesignaturesuitableforModernJive.
2. Pleasesendtojulie@ceroc.com.autheEXACTTITLEANDARTISTofthetrackincludinginformationonanyremixversions(orpreferablyattachitasamp3/mp4file)toensurethecorrectversionisplayedforyou.Ifyoudonotsendtheactualmusicfile,thetrackmustbeavailableforustolegallypurchaseandwetakenoresponsibilityiftheincorrectversionisplayed.
3. Songsmustnotcontainoffensive/explicitlyrics.4. SongsthatarebeingusedbyTeamsorShowcasesorthathavealreadybeenallocatedtoanyFinalsafterthe
ChampionsFreestyleFinalwillnotbeused.SongsscheduledtobeplayedbeforetheChampionsFreestyleFinalmaybeallowed.Intheunlikelyeventthatallthreesubmissionsareunusable,competitorswillbecontactedbeforetheeventandaskedtosubmitmorechoices.
5. WerecommendthatconsiderationismadetothecontentoftheactualfirstminuteofthetrackasthatisthepartthatwillbeplayedintheSpotlight.

1. TheEventDirectorisnotpermittedtoenteranypartofthecompetitionapartfromtheTeamandProAmcategories.
2. TheEventDirectorispermittedtobeonthejudgingpanel.
3. Allparticipantsatthiseventarerequiredtoactinasafe,courteousandresponsiblemanner.Anycompetitorsdeemedbytheeventstafftobedancingorbehavinginappropriatelyoroffensively,ortobeundertheinfluenceofalcoholorothersubstancewhichmaycauseharmoroffencemaybedisqualifiedfromthecompetition.
4. ForallcategoriesapartfromDWAS,competitorsmustcompetewiththedesignatedpartnerwithwhomtheyenrolled(forthatcategory),forthedurationofthatcategorythroughoutthecompetition–ieifonehalfofthepartnershipforfeits,theentirepartnershipwillforfeittheirentryinthatcategoryofthecompetition.
5. InDanceWithAStranger,competitorsarenotpermittedtorefuseapartnerallocation.Obviousandseriousnegativereactionsfollowingtheallocationof,orrotationto,apartnermayresultindisqualification.
6. Partsoftheeventwillberecordedbyvideoandstillsphotographyandimagesmaybeusedbytheeventorganiserswithoutanyobligation.
7. CompetitorsandspectatorsareencouragedtovideoforpersonaluseonlytheHeatsandSemiFinals.AllFinals,TeamsandShowcaseswillbeprofessionallyfilmedbyasinglewideangledcameraandofferedforsale.PERSONALVIDEOINGOFTHEFINALS,TEAMSANDSHOWCASESISNOTPERMITTED.
8. Handheldstillscamerasarepermitted.
9. Thereisnoallocatedseatingattheevent.Weencourageyoutositintheareasdesignatedforeachstate/country.Somespacesinthefrontrowswillbereservedforspectatorsandweaskcompetitorstoensuretheseseatsarevacatedshouldaspectatorrequireone.
