Graduation Parties

On June 4, your senior son or daughter will be joining the other members of his or her class in our graduation exercises. This is a very exciting time for our young people as they review their years here at Champlin Park High School and look ahead to the fu-ture. It’s an exciting time for parents, also. You have watched your child grow over the years, both physically and emotionally. I am sure there were times when you wondered if you could survive the four years, but now the big day is near and celebration plans are underway. If you are planning to host a party to celebrate the accomplishments of your graduate, carefully con-sider your decisions about serving alcohol to your guests. Please remember that selling, furnishing, or serving alcohol to minors is a criminal offense in Minnesota. It is a gross misdemeanor, which can result in up to one year in jail and up to a $3,000 fine. In addition, an adult who knowingly pro-vides alcoholic beverages to a minor can be exposed to personal liability for injuries that result from that minor’s intoxication. The combination of drinking and driving is one of the leading killers of young people between the ages of 15 and 24. Last year, 81 young people under the age of 21, died in Minnesota alcohol-related traffic crashes. This is one of the happiest times for our graduates. Teach them to celebrate appropriately. Make sure your graduation parties for minors are chemical free. Detective Andy Dickman School Liaison Officer

2017 Senior All-Night Party The Senior All-Night Party will take place on Sunday, June 4 immediately following graduation. The party is being held at the Blainbrook Entertainment Center in Blaine. It is a fun and safe environment to celebrate the ending of one spec-tacular chapter in your life. Graduates can find the buses for the all-night party outside on Oak Street (facing south). Oak Street is outside of sec-tion 1. All participants will be required to ride the bus to and from Blainbrook. The buses will return students to Champlin Park on Monday morning. Please arrange for transportation to get you home from Champlin Park. The deadline to register (and pay) for this party is May 1. Pick up registration forms in the Main Office. Information is also available on the Senior All-Night Party website listed below.
