$20,000 Challenge in 90 Days -Deadline is April 15, 2018
Oakland Hope has been
challenged! A generous donor
wanting to make an impact has
challenged them to raise
$20,000 in 90 days. If they are
successful in raising $20,000,
he will match all of YOUR donations, doubling that amount to
$40,000, which will be used for feeding families in Oakland County.
Suburban poverty is here in Oakland County and food insecurity
has become its fastest-growing problem. Every day poverty-
stricken families are forced to choose between basic necessities.
HUNGER cannot wait. HOMELESSNESS cannot wait.
UNEMPLOYMENT cannot wait.
Oakland Hope is a one-stop-shop ministering to struggling families. They aim to provide a collaborative work environment with all thehumanitarian services most requested by families in need, including:
A “Client-Choice” Food Pantry
Department of Human ServicesMI BridgeCredit CounselingWIC Nutrition ProgramVeteran AssistanceTax AssistanceMentoringJob Training and Placement
The current infrastructure of services available to low-income
families is scattered throughout the county. The services listed are
run out of separate offices, often in different cities. This requires the
parents of those low-income families to shuttle around from building
to building in an effort to stabilize their economic situation, often
while working long hours to try and support their families on
minimum wage. By providing a multitude of services at a single
location, Oakland Hope will give struggling families a hand-up
without requiring them to waste precious time and meager financial
resources on trips across the county.
Furthermore, as a faith-based organization, Oakland Hope will
provide its patrons with something more than material assistance.
We will show them the love of Jesus Christ in everything we do,
instilling the only true hope that never fails.
Oakland Hope believes there is no reason anyone should go to bed
hungry or without hope in Oakland County, yet thousands do. Your
support will allow Oakland HOPE to attack hunger and food
insecurity.
Please share this with your friends and family. Does your employer
have a matching gift program? This is the perfect way to maximize
your donation and make an impact!
Visit OaklandHope.org to make your donations. For more
information call 248-309-3658 or email: [email protected]

Waterford Police Seek Volunteer“Angels” in Order To Launch Hope
Not Handcuffs Initiative
Waterford Police have committed toparticipation in the Hope Not Handcuffsinitiative. Hope Not Handcuffs is an initiative of
Families Against Narcotics. The program is aimed at bringing lawenforcement, community organizations, and individuals seekingassistance together in an effort to reduce dependency withheroin and prescription ophioids.
Anyone struggling with drug addiction will be able to come intothe Waterford Police Department and ask for help with theiraddiction. Officers will gather preliminary information, provide awaiting space, and contact a Hope Not Handcuffs AngelCoordinator. An “Angel” volunteer will respond to the WaterfordPolice Department within fifteen to twenty minutes, gatherappropriate intake information, and assist the individual in findingan appropriate treatment option.
Since Hope Not Handcuffs launched in 2015, they have placedover nine hundred individuals in treatment and there are overthirty police agencies currently participating in the initiative.
Before we can launch the program in Waterford, we must havevolunteers willing to be trained and commit some of their timeas an on-call “Angel.” We are committed to Hope Not Handcuffsand believe it’s an important piece in the overall battle againstheroin and ophioid addiction.
For more information and to volunteer as a Hope Not Handcuffs“Angel,” contact a HNH Angel coordinator at 833-202-HOPEor visit their website at www.hopenothandcuffs.com.

I am sure that most of us would agree that
when you are an entrepreneur sometimes it is
difficult to find balance. I believe that balance
is not something you find in life but it is
something that you create.
I recently watched a TED Talk by Michael
Walters called The Fallacy of Work Life Balance. He refers to it
as work life integration. At times it can be so is easy to become
overwhelmed by trying to balance all aspects of our personal,
spiritual, professional and family life.
This talk is a great reminder that sometimes the only thing we
need to do is change our perspective to find balance.
Have a great month!
