Management Recruiters of Wausau has been helping build the regional economy for the past 20 years. Led by Laurie Prochnow as President and Owner, Management Recruiters is an executive search firm and a leading provider of full-service staffing solutions to a broad range of clients in the banking, accounting, finance, and information technology industries throughout the United States. It even hosts a specialist dedicated to servicing accounts in its home region of Wausau, as well as the state of Wisconsin. Laurie started her career in the search business on the front lines at Management Recruiters of Wausau as a recruiter specializing in AS/400 placements. She won many awards and much recognition for her success and assumed ownership of the office in 1994. In 2004, Management Recruiters was selected as the Wausau Region Chamber’s Small Business of the Year winner in the Retail/Sales division. As owner and manager, Laurie is continually developing a great team to serve the needs of clients and candidates. She is committed to becoming the most valued and trusted resource for finding the individuals who will add value to client organizations; providing her people with the resources and motivation they need to be the best they can be; and treating candidates with respect, honesty and professionalism. Laurie feels her strength is selling the Wausau region since she has lived here her entire life. Over the years, the staff at Management Recruiters have filled multiple positions within numerous

organizations. Companies contact them when they have tough positions to fill in accounting, information technology, networking and systems, manufacturing, sales, and numerous other roles. The office also places banking professionals throughout the Midwest. Most of those positions are for Commercial Lenders, Ag Lenders, Branch Managers, Market Presidents and other similar positions primarily in community-based banks.

Management Recruiters has survived because of its tenacity and dedication to the goal of finding the highest-quality candidates. A willingness to work on continuous improvement and adapt to the changing market conditions has also supported its longevity. For example, prior to the technology bust in the year 2000, the primary focus was in information technology. Fortunately, the company was able to diversify at the right time and have positioned themselves to remain flexible during economic downturns.

Management Recruiters remains a strong company committed to its roots and is looking forward to continuing its 20-year history of giving and providing talented resources in the Wausau region.

Sara Gast is the youngest of six children; she was raised on a family dairy farm in Northeastern Wisconsin and moved to Central Wisconsin in 1999. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. In 2004, Sara moved to Wausau and was employed in the accounting field. That was until 2007, when an opportunity with American Family steered her into the insurance industry. For the past seven years, she has been a consultant on a variety of topics (sales, marketing, customer retention, and more) to American Family agents and their agency staff within a 10-12 county radius. She is licensed with the State of Wisconsin for Casualty, Property, Health and Life lines of business. She is currently going to school at Northcentral Technical College to pursue a Lean Six Sigma Certificate. One of her goals for 2015 is to obtain the American Standard of Quality’s Green Belt Six Sigma designation.

Sara has been a Chamber volunteer for over three months. She started as an Ambassador and has volunteered to help at events such as the Annual Meeting and Business PMs. She is also on the newly formed Chamber committee that is planning a Women’s Professional Conference for 2015. Sara is excited to help with Small Business Week and the Business EXPO in April of 2015.

Sara enjoys being a Chamber volunteer because it is a great way to not only network with professionals she already has the pleasure of knowing, but she also gets to make new connections. It’s in her nature to make people feel welcome and comfortable, so she enjoys wearing the red blazer and doing what she can to make it a great event for attendees. Sara believes in this community and feels even the few hours

that she volunteers each month can help promote member businesses. She also enjoys helping businesses capitalize Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce opportunities to grow positively--which strengthens our regional economy.
