*When defining/selecting an online training curricula, it is important to have training that can satisfy several different needs. An obvious need was convenience of training. It had to be available when the individual chose to engage in the training. The online training had to be compatible. It should be designed to operate on commonly used computer systems with minimal bandwidth requirementsIt is beneficial to have training that is customizable. One-size does not always fit all, so look for training that can be modified to address a variety of training requirements.Within any field or organization, there is some information that is required and needs consistent delivery to individuals. Make sure that the training selected provides the ability to deliver that consistency. With the current state of the economy, no one needs to be reminded that any training selected will need to be cost-effective. Not only the initial cost of securing the training, but the long term costs also need to be considered. ***Tambri McKinney: Director of Operations*Anyone in the field is familiar with the word assessment. When determining the curriculum for the E-cademy, alignment to assessment tools was crucial. The curriculum had to cover information a youth needed. Partnering with Smart Horizons provided access to an independent living skills curriculum that was aligned to national recognized assessment tools and addressed topics organized into five content areas.Health/Leisure - Topics that encourage a healthy, safe lifestyle Financial Management - Topics targeted to establishing financial independence Relationships - Topics to help build personal and professional relationships Life Skills - Topics that address skills for living on your own Career/School - Topics focused on educational and professional growth *The curriculum is designed to accommodate short periods of training. The lessons within the curriculum are not over one hour in length. The lessons have different formats for variety; there are interactive lessons, videos, powerpoints and few reading assignments. Except for reading assignments, all lessons include audio. As indicated on the slide, each lesson contains objectives for student achievement. Those objectives are covered in the content provided and tested through assessment items. A student must achieve a minimum score of 70% to receive credit for a lesson and be awarded a certificate of completion. ****
