Attendees were able to learn more about the importance of exceptional human resource practices in thefield of health and aging services, which is struggling with staffing issues. Panelist discussed is the currentwork environment and challenges, how the use of fundamental human resource practices impact the workenvironment, the impact of new practices and partnerships on organizational human resourceperformance, challenges and opportunities ahead and how to address them as well as new skill sets andtalents required for advancing effective work practices for leaders.

He joined Argentum in January 2015 when theorganization was known as the Assisted Living Federation of America. He spent 2015touring the country meeting with senior living executives, policymakers, academics, and

other advocates for older adults to better understand the industry’s key imperatives and to help define

Over the summer, Dr. Olson and Dr. Hansen led the National Emerging Leadership summit inWashington, DC. UW - Eau Claire HCAD alumni, students, and faculty visited with Rep.Ron Kind (D- WI)

on the Hill. They had the opportunity to briefly discuss long term care and the needs of our professionwith Rep. Kind. A couple of his staffers and interns gave everyone a tour of the United States

Fall ModuleDuring Fall Module, HCAD Practicum Students kicked off the first day of the Fall Module by participating in

“Dementia Live”. A high impact simulation experience that immerses participants into life with dementiaresulting in a deeper understanding of what it’s like to live with cognitive impairment and sensory change.

Pathway SummitSeveral HCAD students made the trip up to Minneapolis this weekend and attended the Pathway Summit.

The Pathway Employee Summit was themed "Season of Change." They learned all about recent andfuture changes in long term care such as PDPM, Phase 3 Requirements of Participation for Medicare, andTrauma Informed Care. They also had opportunity to network with professionals in the industry, and learn

how they plan to adapt to all of these changes.

CHAASE Open HouseOn October 16th, the HCAD/CHAASE offices held an Open House. It was a chance for prospective and

current students to learn more about the Health Care Administration major, ask questions, discoverstudent opportunities, meet faculty and staff, have some snacks, play games and win prizes. It was a

great event and we look forward to doing it again soon!

LeadingAgeDr. Johs-Artisensi and 4 HCAD Students traveled to the LeadingAge Annual Meeting and Expo in SanFrancisco, CA where they attended educational sessions, heard from great speakers, and even got to

interact with CHAASE board members!



CONGRATULATIONS!Congrats to Dr, Jennifer Johs-Artisensi, the recipient of the 2019 UWEC College of Business Employee

Recognition Program award. Dr.Johs-Artisensi was presented the Creativity & Innovation Award. We arelucky to have her!
