Film• 1961 - Rendering of a planned highway – A 30 second vector animation of a car driving down a

highway at the Swedish Royal Institute Of Technology on the BESK computer. This was broadcasted on November 9th 1961 on National Television.

• 1968 – Kitty – a group of Russian mathematicians and physicists created a mathematical model of a moving cat. • 1974 - The Six Million Dollar Man – First television series to use CGI. • 1976 – Future World – First use of 3D computer graphics for animated hand and face.• 1977 – Star Wars – Used an animated 3D wire-frame graphic for the trench run briefing sequence • 1978 - Superman – First Film with a computer-generated Title sequence • 1979 – Alien – Used raster wire-frame model rendering fonavigation monitors in the landing sequence.

Film• 1990 – Die Hard 2 – First digitally-manipulated matte painting• 1990 – Robocop 2 – an early use of real-time computer graphics or digitally puppetryto create a character in a motion picture.• 1993 - Jurassic Park – First photorealistic CG creatures • 1995 – Casper – First CGI characters to interact realistically with live actors.• 1995 – Toy Story – First CGI feature-length animation. • 1997 – Titanic – first wide release feature film with major elements rendered under the open-source linux operating system. 2000’S

• 2012 – The Blue Umbrella – First entirely photorealistic short film. • 2012 – The Hobbit - First use of CGI in a full-length movie filmed at High Frame

Rate.• 2013 – Gravity - Continuous uninterrupted shots sequences done without using

virtual cinematography, only CGI backgrounds and live actors. The merge of two shots through digital backgrounds created the illusion of a scene done entirely in one shot.

• 2015 – Furious 7 - First use of motion capture in the recreation of a deceased actor (Paul Walker).
