Forest certification involves the independent evaluation of a forest to determine if forest management practices comply with the established environmental and socio-economic standards of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC.) In eastern Ontario, practices must meet the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence standards. Certified forests are subject to annual audits. e Eastern Ontario Model Forest (EOMF) has developed a collaborative certification process for private land and community forests. e EOMF Forest Certification Program al- lows for numerous landowners and community forests to share the benefits and costs of FSC certification by certifying their lands as one unit, with one certificate. e FSC is an international, independent, non- profit, non-governmental organization formed to oversee the certification of well-managed forests. leading forest certifi cation on private land,

through the formation and continued support

of the S. D. & G. Certifi ed Woodlot Owners Inc.

Membership

Membership is open to any individual, group

or organization that supports the objectives of

Forest Certifi cation.

An annual membership fee of $50 is payable to

the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Certifi ed

Forest Owners Inc. (S.D.& G. CFO Inc.)
