Background of the research
Lagrangian GDI spray modeling
The control of the fuel-air mixing is an essential component of a gasoline engine design for:- combustion efficiency- pollutants formation (mainly soot)
Spray evolution and associated soot luminosity (Koegl et al., Applied Energy, 2018)
A trend towards the use of Gasoline Direct-Injection (GDI) has been established, with improvements in:• cold-start performance• knock tendency• overall thermal efficiency
Further improvements and shortened design cycles could beachieved by carrying out computational fluid dynamics (CFD)simulations
![Page 18: CFD methodologies for the modeling and the design of ... · Detailed analysis of injection and combustion processes Control of pollutant formation to help meet the continuously stricter](https://reader034.fdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022042314/5f01d1687e708231d4012fdb/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)
