National Competitions and the PRECON/RYC

The Precon/RYC is an annual event executed on a REGIONAL scale with a unifying theme and sessions that lead to the National CFC Youth Conference. With this concept, the competitions at PRECON/RYC should also be executed in a way that somehow leads to the national conference.

To fulfill this, the competitions for PRECON/RYC will be considered as “Tournament”, whereas the winners will advance, representing their region at the Conference, which will be considered as the “Championships”. A 50% attendance from each winning team of each Precon must compete in the National Conference. This automatically secures a number of participants that will attend from each delegation. The competitions will then become one of the many reasons that a youth would attend, which is ideal as competitions are still a part of the National Conference.

COMPETITION HEADS

Roles and Responsibilities

Overall Competitions Heads will take charge of the following:

1. Receive and follow-up on all rosters from competitors, and all requirements. 2. Submit a list of confirmed teams to the Committee Heads, who will announce official competing teams.

Should be any concerns or problems, CA will bring it to the attention of the Competition Heads. 3. Organize on-site verification of all rosters and actual competitions.

Mechanics: The expansion of this committee varies, depending on the Precon/RYC. Here are some suggestions for each event:

* All Committee and Sub-Committee Heads are responsible for overseeing their events and responsibilities related to these events throughout the duration of Precon/RYC.

*The whole Competition Committee is also responsible for the making of the awards

This year we are challenging you to use your God-given talents to express the New Evangelization! “Evangelization will always contain as the foundation, center and, at the same time, the summit of its dynamism-- a clear proclamation that, in Jesus Christ salvation is offered to all men, as a gift of God's grace and mercy…The new evangelization is not a matter of merely passing on doctrine but rather of a personal and profound meeting with the Savior.” – Blessed John Paul II

Create an original video. The video can be your personal interpretation of making the New Evangelization come to life, whether it’s evangelizing your family, your friends, strangers who know nothing about the faith, and even those who were baptized but have walked away from the Church. Extreme Dodgeball (separate boys & girls) Dynamics

1. There will be one entry accepted per Delegation. Members must be on the database and must active CFC-Youth. All rosters are due by [Date and Time] and no later.

2. All Rosters must be reviewed and

approved by the CFC-Youth Cluster’s Couple Coordinators to ensure that the team consists entirely of active CFC Youth members. Inactive members are not allowed to compete. Entry forms missing Couple Coordinator approval will not be accepted.

3. Each team must have minimum of 6

players.

4. Each team is required to wear the same colored shirt or jersey, representing their Delegation.

5. If a team is not in the playing court within 5

minutes after their game is announced, the opposing team will win by default.

6. Length of each game: 30 minutes.

7. Balls will be placed at the mid-line to start

the game while all participants must have a hand on their own end line.

8. Upon the blow of a whistle, or a go, or

whichever way the committee deems appropriate, the game will start and participants are free to pick up the balls.

9. Before the balls can be used in the game,

the balls must be “activated”.

10. In order to “activate” the balls and start the game, each team must touch each of the balls on their own end line before the balls can be used for play. If a player does not comply, he or she is automatically

eliminated.

11. The object of the game is to eliminate all players on the opposing side. Elimination occurs when:

a. Someone is struck by a ball on the

waist down by the opposing team; anyone struck above the waist is still in the game and may request a substitution if hurt or injured.

b. If a live ball thrown by an opponent is caught;

c. When a player crosses over the centre line onto the opposing territory;

d. When a ball is dropped after an attempted catch.

12. If a live ball thrown by an opponent is

caught, a member that is out may return to the field of play.

13. Players must be hit directly by a ball. If a

ball ricochets of a wall and hits a player, that player is not eliminated.

14. No player can hold a ball for more than 20

seconds at any time.

15. No player can retrieve balls that have landed out of bounds. If a player leaves the area to grab a ball out of bounds, they must PASS the ball to a team member on the play side (no elimination)

16. At the end of the 30 minute round,

whoever has more players on the field wins. If there is a tie, a sudden death, 3- minute round will occur where the first 3 eliminations will dictate the victor.
