A Summer On Mission For God

Our goal from the moment we launched

this church was to do all we could do to be

faithful in helping to fulfil the Great

Commission. After all, it is referred to as the

Great Commission, not the good suggestion.

Our steadfast aim has been to equip the

believers in our congregation with the tools

they need to share their faith. With that said,

tools alone won’t get the job done. There

also needs to be a willing heart along with

opportunities to put into practice what we

have learned. It has been beautiful watching

the families of CFBC step out of their

comfort zone and display a humble spirit

Baby Dedications Coming Soon! With numerous families having new little ones this spring CFBC will be joining with multiple

families in prayer and celebration as they commit to raise their children in the ways of the Lord.

Though our church doesn't believe in infant baptism, we do support the idea of baby dedication.

Committing to raise your child in the ways of Christ is a very honorable decision! The church also

commits to encourage, equip, and hold accountable the parents who step out in faith to raise their

child in such a way. It is truly a beautiful thing to see the entire body of Christ rally around

A Summer On Mission (continued) ...minds of its community. This summer we have already been

blessed with two opportunities to do just that! One truth that always

seems to amaze me is that we, as believers receive an incredible

amount of joy in the midst of our obedience. Scripture makes it

clear that it is better to give than receive, however it also seems that

when we bless others we receive a blessing ourselves.

A generous person will prosper;

Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Proverbs 11:25

We share our faith because it brings glory to God and offers hope

and salvation to the lost...and receiving a blessing for our efforts is

the cherry on top. Go serve your King!

A Life Of Freedom: A

Study In Galatians You probably wont find any churches named after the church in

Galatia driving down the roads of America. This first century

church plant is rather infamously recognized for its legalism and

distortion of the gospel. Yet if it wasn't for God

providentially using Paul to communicate His truth to

that church, we likely would not have had the

reformation of Luther’s day. As Christians, we get to

experience immense liberty. Discovering this

freedom can bring both joy and yet in some cases

stress as believers wrestle with which boundaries

honor God in their personal lives. Join us on

Wednesdays as we dive into this incredible book that

will have a profound impact on your walk with God.

Happy Father’s Day

For Jesus

rejected Jesus as the one true Messiah, but will some day come to

see Him as He truly is, the Messiah promised in the Old Testament.

There will come a time when peace comes to Israel, both geo-

political as well as spiritual. Our prayers for Israel should be

constant and always centered around their belief in Jesus first and

foremost. “But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His

name, He gave the right to become children of God.” Being a

“child” of Abraham is indeed a special thing, but children of

Abraham still receive Him and believe in His name if they are to be

called the children of God. Some day when eternity is just getting

started we will hear the multitude say “Hallelujah! Salvation and

glory and power belong to our God!” Israel’s true believers will be

among that multitude. The Messianic Jews will play a large role in

the end times. God is not finished with Israel.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who

weep.”

Romans 12:15

Is God Finished With Israel “...a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in...” Romans 11:25

Every week in our Sunday service we pray for the peace of Israel.

Why do such a thing? Didn’t God move on from the Jews once they

rejected His Son Jesus? The short answer to that is no. God did not

“move on” from Israel as to never return. Israel in large part has

Pastor’s Pen Reflections on the tragedy in Charleston

Tragedy struck the city of Charleston, South Carolina this past

Wednesday June 17. One young man murdered nine Christians after

a prayer meeting concluded in the Emanuel African Methodist

Episcopal Church. Operating from a Christian worldview, we know

that terrible, evil instances such as this one occur from time to time

because of the reality of living in a fallen world, with mankind

which is totally depraved. With that said, our prayers go out for that

community and the church that was involved in this evil attack. Our

response as believers should be one of compassion and sorrow. We

need to as scripture says “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep

with those who weep.” The temptation for us, as well as all others,

will be to rush to judgement and perhaps try and compartmentalize

tragedies such as this through political or cultural lenses. Yet we

must be careful to address the root issue in these instances...sin is a

reality and death is inescapable. As Christians we have a remedy for

both, which is found in the Person of Jesus Christ. Because of His

atonement for our sins, we can walk through the power of the Holy

Spirit as saints rather than sinners. Forgiveness is available even in

the darkest of circumstances because God has forgiven even our

darkest of sins. The scripture tells us that death is an intrusion, and

when it comes it strikes terror in the hearts of those it effects. Yet

for those who place their faith in Jesus alone for salvation, death has

lost its sting! Our advice to people who are contemplating events

such as this one should look something like this: “Death will come

for us all at some point. Are you ready to meet your Maker?”

That Elusive Fruit Of The Spirit

Perhaps the most difficult fruit of the spirit to produce is self control.

Can I get an AMEN? I know the word tells me in 1 Corinthians 13 that I

will not be tempted beyond what I can bear, yet many if not most

Christians seem to lead a life of constant defeat when dealing with food.

We know all the verses about our bodies being a temple, and how

everything should be done for the glory of God. But in truth, food is often

off limits. Why bring up food when dealing with self control? Because it

is more difficult to control than most other temptations. Food comes in so

many alluring tastes and smells. Food tempts us multiple times a

day….EVERY DAY. Most temptations don’t carry that much clout!

Food makes us happy when we are sad, full when we are hungry, and

often brings people together. So naturally you can see how something

meant to be so wonderful for us on so many levels can lead to the

numbing of our conscience's when in fact that should SHOUTING to us

NO!!!! Don’t eat that! You’ll regret it! The sin of self-indulgence has

infiltrated pews and pulpits of

all denominations. The last

time I checked gluttony was

still a sin and being a slave to

anything other than God is

tantamount to idolatry. So start

off TODAY with a victorious

match against yourself and

produce that elusive fruit.
