Students receive an industry certificate, which is now a national requirement. > Food preparation learn all about food and beverage service, including food and beverage preparation and order taking for customers in a cafe environment. > Beverages prepare and serve various non-alcoholic beverages. > Coffee making learn the skills to operate equipment and the techniques to produce a range of coffees and practice these skills in our on-site training cafe. > Tourism knowledge learn about the tourism industry, including careers. > Destination knowledge learn all about New Zealand and the world, including tourist destinations and attractions. > Numeracy/literacy learn practical numeracy and literacy skills applicable to both the tourism and hospitality industries. FURTHER STUDY OPTIONS Students can apply to enrol in the National Certificate in Tourism (Core Skills) (Level 3), the New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 4) or a range of other programmes offered at Whitireia or other tertiary institutions. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates of the Certificate in Work Skills (Hospitality and Tourism) will be confident and work ready for employment as a barista, kitchenhand, front of house, i-SITE consultant or other customer service role. QUALIFICATION Graduates gain the Certificate in Work Skills (Hospitality and Tourism) and the New Zealand Certificate in Hospitality (Level 2).
