ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

It is expected that students have well developed wri:en and verbal communica�on skills, basic

numeracy skills and basic computer opera�ng skills. A working with children check (also known

as a blue card in Qld) must be obtained prior to conduc�ng your voca�onal placement. Refer

back to our website for links to each State or Territory agency responsible for administering

working with children checks.

DURATION

You will have up to 2 years to complete but can progress at any pace. Classroom based

students may complete in the allocated 20 week block but will have up to 2 years to complete.

As a guide someone spending 8hrs per week on assessment, could expect to complete the

course in approximately 8 - 11 months. Students receiving study benefits from Centrelink

(educa�on supplement) will be obligated to complete the course in: 40 weeks (full �me) or 69

weeks (part �me) .

COURSE OVERVIEW

This Na�onally Recognised course is suitable if you are currently

working as or seeking to work as a teacher aide in a primary,

secondary or special needs school.

STUDY MODE

Self-paced study means that you can study at �mes and loca�ons that suit you. No

assessment due dates and no �metabled lectures or webinars. Fast track your study or take

your �me – the choice is yours.

Classroom study provides a structured 20 week program (1 day classroom, 1 day self-paced

per week). This mode has all the perks of self-paced study with the addi�on of face-to-face

sessions with your trainer. Classroom loca�ons include: Brisbane, Ipswhich, Gold Coast. Please

talk to a staff member for current loca�ons and dates.

• Online: benefit from an easy to navigate elearning course. The online course is interac�ve,

meaning less readings and more visually engaging resources. • Correspondence: receive course resources in a hardcopy format. Resources are presented

in a student porGolio for easy management. Assessment is provided on a USB s�ck.

This course is approved for funding through the following agencies/programs:

Cer�ficate 3 Guarantee

To be eligible for this program you must:

• Be aged 15 years or above and no longer be at school

• Permanently reside in Queensland

• Be an Australian ci�zen or New Zealand ci�zen or Australian permanent resident

(including those with a visa on the pathway to permanent residency).

• Not hold or be currently enrolled in a Cer�ficate III or higher level qualifica�on

(Does not include qualifica�ons completed at school or abroad)

Students approved for the Cer�ficate 3 Guarantee program will pay a student contribu�on fee.

Concession card holders, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people will receive a concession.

PRACTICAL

Students not currently working in the educa�on support industry will be required to complete

100 hours prac�cal placement as part of their study. You may choose to do your placement as

a full �me block or part �me. The placement can be completed at any stage during your

course. Adapt Educa�on can arrange your placement for you or you can arrange your own.

Addi�onal hours (up to 100hrs) placement may be required for school based students,

students on a traineeship, Early School leavers or those that have been assessed as having

limited work/life experience. This will enable more �me to develop skills in a work seJng.

COURSE COMMENCEMENT

Upon receipt of your enrolment form an Adapt Educa�on staff member will contact you to

conduct a pre-enrolment interview and to confirm your enrolment.

COURSE INDUCTION

All Adapt Educa�on students will receive a course induc�on. Induc�ons may be completed

face-to-face, on Skype, or over the phone. During your induc�on, your trainer will: take �me

to explain how to navigate your course resources and assessments; and provide you with

some guidance on the depth and content expected in some of the different assessments.

HOW TO ENROL

FIRST AID

You have the op�on of selec�ng HLTAID003 Provide first aid as an elec�ve unit within this

course. If selec�ng HLTAID003 Provide first aid as an elec�ve:

• The cost of the first aid unit is not included in Adapt Educa�on’s course fee. You will need

to pay the listed course fee to your selected first aid provider.

• Ensure that you are booking into a first aid course that includes the na�onally recognised

unit HLTAID003 Provide First Aid.

• Provide a copy of your Statement of A:ainment to Adapt in order to receive a credit.

COURSE COMPLETION

On successful comple�on of all course requirements you will be issued a Na�onally Recognised

Cer�ficate III in Educa�on Support (CHC30213). All students comple�ng or discon�nuing their

studies will be required to complete a Training and Employment student survey.

Your assessment consists of two key areas:

• Theory assessment: text ac�vi�es, wri:en ques�ons, projects, evidence porGolios.

• Prac�cal assessment: includes demonstra�on of your skills in the workplace. Recorded as

observa�ons by your supervisor, prac�cal placement person or trainer.
