ENTRY REQUIREMENTSWhen you study with TAFE NSW, we want you to succeed. Entry requirements allow us to make sure that you have theright pre-existing knowledge and skills to achieve your chosen qualification. You will need to provide evidence that youmeet the requirements listed in this section.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
TAFE NSW offers the Certificate III in Barbering as an apprenticeship. There may also be options available for you tostudy as a non-apprentice.
ApprenticeshipTo be eligible for this course, you must:
Be employed as an apprentice in the barbering industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer■
Submit your training plan proposal (TPP) with your application■
Non-apprenticeshipThere may be options available for you to study as a non-apprentice. Enquire today and one of our Apprenticeship andTraineeship team will help you understand any eligibility or entry requirements.
WORK PLACEMENT
There is no work placement requirement for this qualification. As an apprentice, you will gain your experience on-the-jobwith your employer.
If you are enrolling as a non-apprentice, you need to be in relevant employment or have access to appropriatesimulated workplace environments in order to meet the course completion requirements.

Evidence of some previous industry experience or training such as a Certificate II in Salon Services, or an introductory course into
barbering.

STUDY COMMITMENT
This is a full-time on campus course. You must attend approximately 14 hours of class. You may also be required tocomplete approximately 8 hours of additional study. This additional study could include private study, work placementsand research.

First Qualification Fee
Applies to a student who does not already hold a post-school qualification from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.
Subsequent Qualification Fee
Applies to a student who already holds one or more post-school qualifications from any tertiary sector (TAFE, privateprovider or University), and includes any vocational (certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas) and higher education(degree) qualifications achieved in Australia or overseas previously.
Apprenticeship Fee
Eligible apprentices are exempt from fees when undertaking an apprenticeship under the NSW Government's Fee FreeApprenticeship. For apprentices who are not eligible, apprenticeship qualification fees are capped at $2,000.

SMART AND SKILLED FEES
This course is government-subsidised, meaning you pay a portion of the full course fee to TAFE NSW and the NSWGovernment will pay the balance. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria for this to apply.
Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Youractual fee and eligibility for concession/exemption will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.Payment plans are available through TAFE NSW for Smart and Skilled eligible qualifications.

There is essential equipment required for the qualification. Information will be available at the information session andfirst day of class and will cost approximately $850.00 from a supplier of your choice. The essential equipment becomesyour physical property and you will be able to retain these on completion of your training.
