If your teeth are preventing you from generating that radiant smile, CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) can help overcome that. CEREC is the latest technology that uses ceramic material to replace unsightly restorations or reconstruct physically damaged or mal-positioned teeth to improve your smile in a single visit. The system uses Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Manufacture (CAD/CAM) technology which is made up of an intra-oral camera linked to a computer and a milling machine. The camera captures optical 3-D images of the teeth and sends these images to the computer for the technician to design the required restorations. The computer then directs the milling unit to produce the restorations via radio wave signals. Once the restoration is completed, it is bonded onto the tooth. CEREC restored teeth are natural looking, comfortable and long-lasting, making it one of the most efficient and cost effective ceramic restorations. The materials used are biocompatible and strong, helping to restore, protect and preserve the integrity of tooth structure. CERECPOSTERIOR CROWNSBig fillings weaken teeth, especially in the posterior regions of the mouth becausethe biting forces are stronger there. Posterior crowns can help to restore andprotect the remaining tooth structure. Any back tooth that has cracked, fractured,or had root canal treatment is suitable for this procedure.

Once the CEREC posterior crowns are in place, they will strengthen your teethand give them a natural look.

CERECINLAYS / ONLAYSMetallic fillings and discolouration from old amalgam fillings can make teeth appeardull, dirty and unattractive. These fillings do not add strength to the remainingteeth structure. CEREC inlays or onlays are recommended to replace these oldand worn fillings. The ceramic restorations are chemically bonded onto the teeth, which helps to strengthen the teeth. These porcelain restorations also restorebadly decayed or fractured tooth to their natural appearance and strength.

CERECANTERIOR CROWNSAND VENEERSWhen an anterior tooth is fractured, mal-positioned, malformed, discoloured, heavily restored, or had root canal treatment, it will need a crown to restore itsaesthetics and strength. Veneers are one of the latest developments in cosmeticdentistry. They are wafer-thin shells of porcelain which are bonded onto the frontsurface of teeth. Veneers can be used to restore some malformed, mal-positionedand/or discoloured teeth. The affected teeth are adjusted, and a thin layer ofporcelain is bonded securely onto each tooth for strength and durability.

A dental implant is a titanium fixture that is surgically placed into the bone toreplace the root portion of a missing tooth. A CEREC crown is then designed andfabricated to fix onto the implant. This combined structure thus replaces themissing tooth. It is strong, natural-looking and restores harmony to dentition.
