Construction Season
If you drove by or came into the school during this season of summer, you recognized very
quickly we also have construction season. At one point, the volume of work done inside
and outside the building reduced us to one entrance on the East side of the building and one
entrance on the West side of the building. Given a building of our size and the number of
students who access our building for programming during the summer, this certainly caused
some adaptation to the normal flow of things. With that said, as contractors continue to
make progress towards project completion, several things are starting to come together and
we look forward to this space for the start of the school year.
The most noticeable change will be our commons area. The main office is no longer located
at the entrance to the Olson Gymnasium. The main office has been relocated to the bridge
entrance (SW side of building). This relocation provided the space for an expanded com-
mons area. The expanded commons space will provide additional seating for students and
additional serving lines to accommodate our volume of students. This part of the project is
95% complete so we are confident this space will be fully functional by the start of the
school year. Another area which should be complete by the start of the school year is the
renovation to our Family and Consumer Science area. Updates in this area to adapt to the
curriculum have been part of discussions for several years so we are very excited to see this
space come together for our students. Beyond this, the addition on the East side of the
building is starting to take shape as a good portion of the structural steel is being set in
place. Although this space will not be usable during the 2018-2019 school year, it will pro-
vide us with the much needed space for our growing student population and give us the abil-
ity to remove portable classrooms from our campus. The east addition will provide addi-
tional science labs, art rooms, a band room, a medical related careers classroom and other
general classrooms. Since we continue to project to have 300 more students than our cur-
rent school capacity in the coming years, this space will provide a great environment for our
students and faculty. Target completion for the new addition and renovations is the fall of
19-20.
Beyond the construction update, the remainder of this mailing is full of information im-
portant to the start of the school year. I encourage you to take the time to thoughtfully re-
view it. Additionally, the Bismarck Public Schools website is an excellent source of district
wide and school specific information, the address is http://www.bismarckschools.org.
Enjoy the remainder of the summer and we look forward to the return of students on
August 23rd.

Happy August!
We are pleased to inform you that all high school students will have the option of receiving a district owned Chromebook!
Here is some important information that all families should know.
● You may provide your own device. It must be the equivalent of a Chromebook, netbook, or laptop. Cell phones, tablets, iPods, gaming devices, etc. are not ade-quate devices for school instruction.
● All students must complete a digital etiquette course regardless of using their own device or a BPS Chromebook. These are skills necessary in a 21st century learning environment. CHS students must complete this course online before the first day of school.
○ Students should log into LearnBPS from the CHS homepage with their username and password. Under courses, use the drop down menu to select Digital Etiquette followed by their graduation year (i.e. Digital Etiquette Class of 2020).
○ For directions on accessing and working through the modules, visit the Dig-ital Etiquette page on the CHS Library homepage or click here.
● All parents/guardians and students must sign a digital permission form before re-ceiving a BPS chromebook. Please fill out this form for EACH student that will be attending CHS (this form can also be found on the CHS Homepage ->Parents->Chromebook Information -> Parent Permission & Responsible Use Form). Paper copies are available in the school office.
●Chromebooks will be issued during first period on the first day of school. If your student does not have a first period class, or attends the Career Academy, they can pick up their chromebook in the new CHS Pats Tech room located in the library.
●Visit the 1:1 Chromebook FAQ page to learn more about Chromebooks in the classroom (bismarckschools.org -> Parents -> Chromebook Information).
Please share these tips with your student on how to care for their Chromebook. We also recommend purchasing a 14” protective case. Looking forward to seeing our students back at CHS on August 23!

Century C-Club
What is the C-Club? The Century High School C-Club is designed to support and encourage the organizations and activities available for the growth and development of the CHS students. The C-Club is organized and run by parent volun-teers who represent the student clubs, athletics, and organiza-tions of CHS. The CHS C-Club raises money each year through memberships and the annual "CHS Booster Bust," held in Novem-ber. We raise funds for ALL school organizations represented. The funds are then distributed to CHS clubs, organizations, sports teams and for permanent additions to enhance Century High School. Parents are encouraged to become active in the C-Club as well as in any separate booster clubs related to your child's activi-ties. Last year C-Club was able to award over $32,000 in alloca-tions to 33 CHS organizations and activities!!
SUPPORT CHS C-CLUB – HERE’S HOW: 1. Join the CHS C-Club! There are various levels of individual and corpo-rate memberships in the C-Club. Any and all support is appreciated.
2. Buy your Bismarck Public School Season Activity Pass from the CHS C-Club. The pass gets you into ALL CHS, BHS and LHS home athletic games and $5 of the sale of an adult pass goes to the CHS C-Club if purchased through the club. Activity passes will be available for purchase at freshman orientation, open house, the first few games of the fall athletic season or by contacting any C-Club member. C-Club members are listed on the C-Club l ink on the CHS website under the Activities tab.
3. Attend the CHS C-Club Booster Bust at Sixteen03 Main Events on Mon-day, November 12, 2018. Enjoy a great dinner with a live and silent auction filled with wonderful items donated by so many supportive individuals and busi-nesses, and good times for all!
