Centron EMS systems are easily and
economically expandable. Each central processing
station, or node, monitors up to 128 inputs, whether
hardwired, wireless, or a combination of both. Each
node also controls up to 64 digital outputs. Up to
100 nodes can be networked together to form a
single system. Hardwired Multiplex-Remote Input
(MPX) panels monitor up to 16 sensors each. Each
output panel controls up to 8 outputs.
This modular design provides you the flexibility of
purchasing all of the solutions together at the time of
construction/renovation, or starting with a solution
that meets your current needs and budget, and
expanding as needed.
With any type of input, from any number of users, through
any configuration of buildings, you can view and print
validated reports from any touch screen or terminal with
appropriate security clearance.
With easy-to-use Windows® based software that offers
real-time readings and extensive user-friendly features
and benefits, Rees Scientific’s Centron systems take
environmental monitoring and access control to the next
level in performance and innovation.
Windows® based Centron software is available in English, Spanish and German.
WHAT DO WE MONITOR?
Every moment of every day- we’re watching.
A desktop version of the Centron, the Centron Tower is a small, self-contained
unit designed to fit on your desktop or lab bench and accessed using a
standard monitor, keyboard and mouse. Perfect for facilities where the wall-
mounted enclosure and touch-screen are not practical.
The Satellite Tower allows monitoring of up to eight inputs and is invaluable
when you have to oversee multiple locations with only a few monitor points at
each site. Operating over your existing TCP/IP WAN, the Satellite Tower has all
of the capabilities of the Centron system. The Satellite Tower can operate
independently or as an additional node on an existing Centron EMS.
Rees Scientific’s WebServer allows users to stay in touch with their critical
equipment from virtually anywhere. Authorized users can access your facility in
real time from any web browser. Full alarm handling, input programming
capabilities and reports are available. The WebServer combines the
convenience of our WebServer software with the security of a validated file
server needed for GMP/GLP and other regulated facilities and eliminates the
need to install the Centron software on each network terminal.
e-Centron combines several exceptional Rees Scientific features into one
convenient and economical package. e-Centron unites Centron hardware,
Web Access, an internal CDRW drive, Autobackup software, and 4 hour
battery backup; all delivered in a Tower Chassis, complete with printer,
monitor, keyboard and mouse. An unlimited number of authorized users can
access the system through a standard web browser.
The latest evolution of Centron EMS, CentronSQL provides a more robust
database engine operating on Oracle or SQL providing advanced and custom
reports utilizing Crystal Reports. Additional enhancements include extended 21
CFR 11 security, independent logging rates for each input, scalable maps, and
graphical input status reports. WebServer software option is available to
provide access to users from virtually anywhere.
Our wireless sensors will do for monitoring what wireless
phones have done for communication - give you the
freedom to move about. Ideal for facilities that routinely
move or relocate equipment, these sensors allow you to
monitor equipment that you previously could not. Great
for research animal holding rooms and clean rooms where
conduit is required as well as temporary or rented facilities
where you are not permitted to run data lines. We can
provide you with quick and clean installations.
How does it work?
There are three basic components to the system: transmitter,
repeater (transceiver) and receiver. Each unit being
monitored has a battery powered transmitter and a sensor.
Typical temperature applications such as refrigerators and
freezers are monitored using a standard thermistor probe.
Each transmitter is identified by its serial number and
operates at 418 MHz*. For those far-reaching sensors we
offer a repeater designed to relay the signal to the receiver.
The 900 MHz* Wireless Receiver connects to your Centron
node and employs Digital Spread Spectrum (DSS)
technology to eliminate the risk of interference with other
devices of the same frequency. For economical monitoring
of remote locations, we offer a device that can monitor up
to 96 points and is capable of buffering data in case
communication to the system is disrupted. (*433MHz and
2.4GHz for European installations)
Does the entire system have to be wireless?
No. Add wireless sensors to existing hard wired Centron EMS
systems or go completely wireless. For some applications,
hard wiring a sensor may make more sense. Our wireless
system is designed to work with all of our existing Centron
systems. Our solution allows you to have the best of both
worlds. Either way, you will enjoy all of the advanced network
features, superior alarm dial out capabilities, and secure data
that you have come to know and trust from Rees Scientific.
Centron’s alarm capabilities are smart and smooth.
With local sonic, voice telephoned and e-mail alarm
notification, Centron nodes notify the right person at
home or office, cellular phone, pager or e-mail,
anytime.
With Centron’s generous telephone alarm
capabilities, (up to 200 contacts per Centron node
organized into 20 to 100 call lists with day and night
differentiation), facilities have the convenience of
departmentalizing and de-centralizing alarm
notification. In other words, delegate alarm handling
to the personnel best qualified to handle the
problem. Set up the system to decide who gets
notified, and how. Free system administrators from
routine calls, but allow them to retain control,
accountability, and supervisory authority. Share the
system with multiple departments, and allow each to
handle its own alarms, generate its own reports, and
use its own SOPs.
Centron’s voice mail quality alarm notification reports
current condition readings and high and low alarm
parameters, allowing you to respond by telephone
with precision and speed. The Centron also offers
custom voice tags to specifically name each input in
the alarm messages.
Alarmed and Ready. Independent, Valid
Set Alarm Notification and Logging Rates for each input.
Monitor all of your equipment and facilities
Always within Reach
Optional cellular backup monitors the primary
telephone line. If the telephone line fails or becomes
disconnected, Centron EMS will automatically alert
users of the failure and assume all dial-out duties until
the line is restored.
Alarm notification in the event a node or remote panel goes offline.
Because Centron operates over your organization’s
existing TCP/IP LAN/WAN infrastructure, access is
unlimited. You also have the option to access the
system over the Internet from any computer in the
world, making it easy to monitor and control multiple
sites on your schedule.
Multi-user Networking
and Endless Divisibility
Departmental segregation by input allows divisibility
that makes the most sense for today’s multi-
departmental facilities. Restrict user access based on
an individual’s position, department and/or
qualifications. Allow users to only view their own
inputs on facility floor plans, reports, graphs, etc.
ated, Networked or Web based -
We have a configuration to meet your needs.
System Integrity
and Data Protection
Centron has a comprehensive system to protect your
valuable data and prevent system failures. It has built-
in battery backup, watchdog timer auto-reset, a dead-
system alarm, and it automatically backs up its own
data. Each data record is recorded first to its own hard
drive and then immediately thereafter to the network
drive. If network communication is lost or the network
drive goes down, the data will still be stored on the
Centron’s internal drive and immediately update the
network drive when communication is re-established.
The Centron’s internal hard drive allows for a nearly
infinite amount of data buffering and essentially
eliminates any possibility of data loss.
Autobackup software backs up data to a network
location, local drive, or CD/CDRW. Performing
backups in “Shared” mode allows the system to
continue to update while the backup is being
performed. An integrated CDRW drive is available
with Centron systems to make the process convenient,
secure and easy to use.
with one system - whether across the building, across town or across the country!
CENTRONSQL Software - Security, Ease of Use, Integrity, Sharing, Quality -----
These are just a few of the data challenges facing Researchand Manufacturing today.
In addition to rock solid stability, industry standard data
formats, superior multi-user operation and a
dramatically improved system overview, CentronSQL
provides a vast new array of analysis reports that can
be easily accessed from any workstation. Reports can
be generated based on time, date, activity, input, event
type or multiple criteria allowing you access to what
you need to know, when you need to know it.
Our most recent software advance, CentronSQL,
provides the ultimate in High Security Monitoring.
CentronSQL allows the use of either Oracle or
Microsoft’s SQL Server as the database engine for the
system. Centron Nodes are equipped with Microsoft’s
MSDE 2000 data engine, which is suitable for use as
the main data engine for small systems. Critical GxP
audit trails and system program data are kept in
encrypted files.
Advanced and Custom Report Generation
Capable of sophisticated graphs
Simultaneously show detail boxes for multiple inputs on scalable floor plans with easily identifiable icons.
The next generation of reporting
In addition to monitoring your critical equipment and
processes, the system monitors itself. BuddyWatch
reports if a node goes off-line. While each node is
independent and can log data and alarm without
connectivity to the database engine, DatabaseWatch
will dial out to report that the node is no longer
CentronSQL also offers new software alarm features. Email notification now alerts users with more detail including
the input number, name, current reading, low limit and high limit. Additionally, the number of users that can be on the
system simultaneously has increased from 10 to 50!
connecting to the database engine. MPX Comm and
Battery Alarms warn if a MPX subpanel goes off-line.
These additional alarms allow for voice telephone
notification or e-mails to be made and all standard
alarming functions to occur.
Documented excellence...Whether a routine readings history or alarm history,
every Centron report gives a detailed, easy-to-
understand, accurate account that users find
invaluable on many levels. All information, from all
nodes in your system, is permanently logged to the
Readings or Event History Files and is encrypted to
ensure data integrity. You can now fully document how
alarms are handled, produce complete audit trails
and print information-rich event history reports, on
demand.
21 CFR 11 and Validation settings
Running Log provides documentation of allevents, alarm conditions, programming andcalibration changes for all selected nodes.
Real-time readings are simply a click away.Name, number, status, current reading, andlow and high limits are instantly available.

Premium Calibration Services
• Five Point Certified Sensors with Certificate (RTD Sensors and High Accuracy Humidity Sensors) –
In the past, many of our customers have had a need to certify the accuracy of the sensor over the entire range, not
just at a single point. Rees Scientific now offers high accuracy RTD and humidity sensors that will be calibrated at
5 different points. In addition to the certificate of calibration, Rees Scientific will also execute a 5-point loop
calibration on all inputs using certified sensors.
• Three Point Calibration (available for those choosing to stay with traditional thermistor probes) –
The Three Point Calibration tests each input at three separate points along the range of it’s operation providing
added assurance that the probes will give accurate readings during high and low alarm conditions, as well as their
normal operating set points.
• Alarm Limit Testing – More commonly referred to as “Fire and Ice” testing, the Alarm Limit Testing protocol
is designed to prove that the system will indeed alarm at each sensors set high and low alarm parameters.
• Premium Sensor Calibration Protocols are also available.
