This year’s Homecoming Weekend promises to be an exciting time –we will honor distinguished alumni and outstanding athletes; celebrate the dedication of one building, and the groundbreaking of another; cheer on our student athletes; and delightin several musical performances throughout the weekend. Homecoming at Centre is also aspecial time to welcome back alumni who are celebrating reunions. When you arrive oncampus, please be sure to stop by the Chenault Alumni House to check in and pick up yourcommemorative gift.

4:00p.m. Young Hall Dedication, Front Steps, Young HallPlease join us on the front steps of Young Hall for the dedication of Centre’s new state-of-the-art science building addition. Young Hall wasoriginally constructed in 1970, and the 40,000 square foot additionwas completed in the fall of 2010. An additional $1,080,000 grantwas awarded by the National Science Foundation for renovating and updating the existing research facilities in Young. The newly expandedand updated Young Hall provides increased opportunities for undergraduateresearch, especially collaborative research between students and faculty.The addition includes six new large classrooms, eight new teaching labs,new research labs for eight faculty members, several common, collaborative work areas, significant space for science on display, and theexpansion and renovation of the existing animal facilities. Young Hallhouses the psychology, psychobiology, biochemistry and molecular biology programs, as well as the synthetic (organic and inorganic)chemists. Young Hall is located between Crounse Hall and theCooper/Ganfield Residence Hall.

President’s Golden Reunion Reception

Eugene Brockman Residential Commons Groundbreaking CeremonyBeatty Avenue Parking Lot Please join us at the Beatty Avenue parking lot for the groundbreaking ceremonyof Centre’s newest residence hall, A. Eugene Brockman Residential Commons. Thisapartment-style residential facility will provide transitional housing for upperclassmenstudents. The number of beds provided in this new facility will allow Centre to remaina highly residential campus, with 98% of students living within the 152 acre community.
Brockman Residential Commons will house approximately 126 students and is setfor completion by the start of the 2012-2013 academic year.
Brockman Residential Commons is made possible by a generous gift from the A. Eugene Brockman Trust, created in 1981 by the late A. Eugene Brockman, father of Robert T. “Bob” Brockman ‘63, chairman of the Centre College Board of Trustees.

S. Kern Alexander 1961Kern is currently aprofessor of educationlaw and finance forthe University of IllinoisUrbana/Champaign.
Kern has been a leading figure in highereducation in the Commonwealth,serving as president of both WesternKentucky University and Murray StateUniversity. He is an author, co-author, oreditor of 30 books and has served asa consultant and court expert in education litigation in 22 states. Kernhas volunteered his time to Centre byserving as a Brown Scholar Shadow.
Suzanne Wells Miell 1981Suzanne serves as thepresident of the EventWorks division at EWIWorldwide in Atlanta.Suzanne has more
than 20 years of experience in globalevent planning. She has worked withinternational brands, such as, Intel,Google, Palm, GE, and Nissan.Suzanne also publishes articles, speaksat special engagements, and holds keyleadership positions, demonstratingsupport for her industry. Suzanne currently serves as a co-chair for theCentre Club of Atlanta and was alsoan Alumni Board Director.
Reginald “Reggie” Mudd 1975As a well-respected businessman andcommunity leader,Reggie is the ownerand manager of Mudd
Properties, a real estate developmentfirm in Gallatin, Tennessee. Reggie retired as chief operations officer forCracker Barrel Old Country Store, having served the company for 15years. Reggie was selected as Rotarian of the Year in 2011. He has volunteered his time to Centre by serving as an Alumni Board Directorand a Brown Scholar Shadow.
Leslie A. Fugate 2002Les currently servesas executive VP andCOO for the Center forRural Development.Prior to his current
post, Les served as deputy assistantsecretary of state in the office of former Kentucky Secretary of StateTrey Grayson for seven years. In 2007,he received the Jennifer Schaaf Memorial Award for excellence in government communications from theSociety of Professional Journalists. Leshas volunteered his time as an AlumniBoard Director, GOLD Rush volunteer,and economics mentor.

William A. Kenyon 1986Bill Kenyon was ableto establish a newmodern-day recordfor the Colonels in1983 when he gained
1,161 rushing yards. During the sameseason he also finished sixth in the nation in both rushing average andscoring. A two-time all-conferencemost valuable offensive player, Bill ledthe Colonels to three consecutive CAC championships. He still holds thecareer record for rushing average and is tied for the most rushingtouchdowns (4) in a single game.
Robert L. "Chief" Myers 1907Robert "Chief" Myersis recognized as the architect of the famedPraying Colonelsfootball teams of the
early twentieth century. While serving as Centre’s athletic directorfrom 1916 until 1925, he was theman who envisioned Centre as a national football power and then setabout hiring the coach and recruitingthe players to realize his dream.“Chief” later served Centre as generalsecretary, with responsibility for thealumni and admission programs.
Stephen Rolfe Powell 1974Before he became aprofessor at Centreand an internationallyacclaimed glass artist,Steve Powell was
best known on Centre’s campus as anoutstanding athlete. While he playedbasketball and soccer for the Colonels,it was as a tennis player that Stevemade his mark. He arrived at Centreas a top-ranked junior player from Alabama and lived up to his ranking.He played #1 singles for four seasonsat Centre and was captain of the teamhis final three years.
Dedication of Joe McDaniel Field The new turf field at Farris Stadium willofficially be named Joe McDaniel Fieldin honor of long-time football and golfcoach, Joe McDaniel. McDaniel coachedCentre’s football team from 1980-97.
He retired holding the all-time record in football victoriesat the College with 101 wins, 63 losses, and three ties.During his coaching career at Centre, the Colonels wonseven conference titles and placed six players on theAmerican Football Coaches Association’s All-Americanteam. McDaniel was chosen as the SCAC Coach of the Yearthree times since 1989, the year the award was created.
Coach McDaniel will be recognized during the AlumniRecognition Ceremony and in a pre-game ceremony priorto kick-off at 2:30p.m. at Farris Stadium.

This show is everything you would expect from the uniquely legendary and multi-talented superstar whowon an Academy Award® for her role in the film The Last Picture Show and nine Emmy® Awards for roleson television movies, series and other specials. She starred on hit TV shows such as The Mary Tyler MooreShow, Phyllis and The Facts of Life, and has had roles more recently on Malcolm in the Middle and RaisingHope. At age 83, she was the oldest celebrity dancer on TV’s Dancing with the Stars. Unforgettablefilm appearances include Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, History of the World, Butch Cassidy and theSundance Kid and The Beverly Hillbillies. Now, her one-woman show draws from the many magical moments of her professional career and personal life.
