2EVALUATION REPORT 1st CEE Meeting on Viral Hepatitis and Co-infection with HIV 22 - 23 June 2015, Warsaw, Poland

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Over the last few years, the field of Viral Hepatitis and Co-infection has undergone several major changes. Therapeutic options are increasing and new data are becoming available incessantly which makes it challenging for healthcare professionals to stay informed and provide the best treatment possible for their patients. Also regional and local situations vary strongly and have a big impact on the decision making process of the clinician.

The Central and Eastern European Meeting on Viral Hepatitis and Co-infection with HIV has been developed by regional and international Key Opinion Leaders for the medical and scientific community in Eastern and Central European countries. Advances in the treatment of viral Hepatitis and HIV are continuing at a rapid and exciting pace, presented and discussed at many large international conferences. Key challenges in the treatment of Hepatitis B and C as well as HIV are specific for this region and need to be discussed among clinicians and scientists from these countries. This meeting aims to provide a unique and much needed platform for scientific and medical interchange and education on treatment of Viral Hepatitis and Co-infection with HIV. Much time was allocated to discussions and Q&A sessions in order to stimulate interaction and dialogue.

The content of the meeting and the invited lectures were very well received. The presentation of Dr Jonathan Schapiro at the special session on the optimal use of integrase inhibitors received the highest score of the entire meeting, with an average of 4.9 (on a scale of 5).

98% of the respondents indicated they will recommend this workshop to their colleagues and 100% indicated they plan to attend this workshop again next year.

The first edition of the Central and Eastern European Meeting on Viral Hepatitis and Co-infection with HIV had 125 participants from 24 countries. The largest group, as expected, was from Poland ( 39).The below chart illustrates their professional background.
