ROm Centennial ballthe Party of the Century

The ROM’s Centennial year culminated with a stunning once-in-a-lifetime celebration of wonder and discovery on November 8, 2014. Nothing short of spectacular, this white-tie affair was hosted by Bonnie Brooks, Chair of the ROM Board of Trustees, and Senator Nicole Eaton.

More than 600 guests dazzled in ball gowns and tails and were greeted by a Michael-Lee Chin Crystal lit up with artistic projections by Moment Factory. The ROM’s generous philanthropic community of donors, patrons, and sponsors came together for a series of intimate dinners in several galleries, raising over $700,000 net in support of the Museum. Special thanks to Presenting Sponsor CIBC, Opening Ceremonies Sponsor Mantella Venture Partners, and all the Centennial Ball Committee members for helping to make the evening so memorable.

As the ROM’s Centennial Partner, CIBC supported a year-long festival of special events and programs for the community, including the ROM Centennial Ball, Heritage Days and ground-breaking exhibitions such as Fashion Follows Form: Designs for Sitting and Wildlife Photographer of the Year. The ROM is so grateful for CIBC’s partnership and generosity.

“CIBC’s partnership with the ROM has spanned a century and we are proud to continue our long-standing support of Canada’s world museum.” Victor Dodig, President and CEO, CIBC

    Celebrating two iconic Canadian institutions

The first stunning moments of the ROM Centennial Ball began with a spectacular Opening Ceremonies reception sponsored by Mantella Venture Partners. “We were so proud to support the ROM during this singular moment in its history,” said Sylvia Mantella, Chief Marketing Officer, Mantella Corporation. Mantella Venture Partners is a venture capital organization that invests in exceptional entrepreneurs, building market-altering mobile and Internet software businesses.

Throughout the evening, guests were drawn to the sparkling lights of the Flixel Living Photo Booth in the ROM’s Rotunda. Party-goers posed for “living memories” created by this hybrid photography that combines still pictures with motion. Launched in 2012, Flixel is a Canadian company that makes applications for the creation of Cinemagraphs or Living Photos, and has been supported by Mantella Venture Partners. The ROM is deeply grateful for the generous support of Mantella Venture Partners.
