How long have you been involved in the clothing/retail industry?

“We have been in the surfing/fashion industry for 13 years now,” says Corinn.

“Our background is in farming, however when our eldest daughter started high school, we decided it was an opportune time to move off the farm and explore a new avenue – and from there, our first shop at Centro Mandurah was born,” John explains.

How long have you had a store at Centro Mandurah?

“Mandurah was our first ever store, opening in 2000. Since then, our store numbers have grown to five, with stores in Mandurah, Halls Head, Bunbury, Broome and Rockingham,” says John. “It has been an exciting journey, with many challenges and

triumphs, and we’re proud to have grown a loyal customer base over the past 13 years. It has been great to grow as a business with the support of these loyal customers, and to help meet their individual clothing needs throughout the different phases of their lives,” he says.

What does Crystals Surf & Skate pride themselves on?

“We pride ourselves on our service and on the large variety of brands and garments available to our customers,” says Corinn. “We stock everything from casual wear to beautiful jewellery and accessories, right down to smart evening wear. Families are able to shop with us and find an entire outfit for everyone. We’re very proud of that.”

As Aussies, being outdoors is part of our culture – whether it’s down at the beach, enjoying a BBQ at the park with mates, or getting in an early morning surf before work.Crystals Surf & Skate embodies this love of the outdoors, with owners John and Corinn Ditchburn the driving forces behind the store’s success.

Together, their passion for the outdoors combined with their love of the ocean has helped them create a store that caters for all customers’ needs, from beach wear right down to the latest must-have fashion pieces. INside Magazine was lucky enough to chat to John and Corinn to get an insight into how this dynamic duo does business.

Corinn, what is your favourite brand and why?

“I like Seafolly and Tigerlily – both are feminine, classic, and can be tailored to suit any outing or occasion. They also cater for women of all ages.”

Describe Crystals Surf & Skate in 3 words:Immediately, both Corinn and John say “variety” – further emphasising the importance of providing their customers a range of fashion-forward outfits for any occasion. John also went on to add that Crystals Surf & Skate prides itself on being a “one-stop shop”, where families can avoid having to spend hours trawling the shops to find what they want, and instead pick up entire outfits with ease from Crystals Surf & Skate.

Connor now, gents, pay attention. looking good isn’t just about having the right wardrobe (though obviously this helps!) but knowing what to wear, and how to wear it. With this in mind, let us introduce Connor, who recently launched their new menswear range. inspired by celebrities such as David Beckham (who always manages to look effortlessly stylish), the new range is sure to be a talking point. Basically, this season is all about rocking the casual look – but we’re not talking sweat pants and baggy t-shirts. Instead, it’s time to embrace the must-have casual button-up shirt, statement tee, and the oh-so versatile denim shirt (though if you’re planning on going for the double denim look, make sure you go for two different denim shades).

fASHion nAiLSit seems that this season’s latest must-have accessory isn’t the perfect bag or statement necklace, but instead, it’s all about the statement nails!

From the Oscars to the Grammys, celebrities like Katy Perry and Rihanna are rocking the perfect manicure and standout nail art – and we just can’t get enough! To achieve the look for yourself (without the celebrity price tag), make sure to visit Fashion Nails, your one-stop pamper shop at Centro Mandurah.

So next time you’re planning the perfect night out, make sure you give your nails the star treatment they deserve at Fashion Nails.

As Store Owner Khoi Vo says: “We specialise in a range of nail treatments from acrylic, shellac and gel nails to manicures and pedicures; providing a quality service that’s kind to your hands, feet and wallet!”

“Dressing down to go out is a new concept for Connor. We will help you master the art of casual dressing – when to play it up, dress it down, layer it…the possibilities are practically endless!” says Store Manager Abbie Hill.

CoMMunity At Centro Mandurah, we’re proud of our efforts to support the wider community. recently, as part of the Win your dream Car promotion hosted in association with Paterson Auto Group Ltd, over $12,000 worth of goods were donated to worthy charities, both locally and internationally. The promotion saw one lucky winner drive away in a vehicle of their choice to the value of $25,000. To enter the promotion, customers simply had to guess how many items were inside a display car filled with an assortment of different goods. At the end of the promotion, all items that were displayed in the vehicle were donated to these charities.

RECIPE BY UPTOWN COFFEE LOUNGE

Bacon and Spinach PieWhen you’re shopping up a storm, sometimes you need to take a little bit of time out to refresh and recharge your batteries. When it comes to putting your feet up, you really can’t look past Uptown Coffee Lounge. As one of the only remaining original tenants at Centro Mandurah, Uptown Coffee has been trading for an impressive 30 years, since the Centre first opened in 1983.

Part of what has made the café so successful is its commitment to providing customers with an authentic, ‘homely’ café experience, with every menu item baked on-site at the café (which explains those delicious smells). Another key focus of the café is to ensure customers receive excellent customer service and tasty ‘value for money’ menu items that will fill you up without you having to fork out all your cash.

To give you more of a taste of the delicious menu items on offer, owner Janine Taylor has kindly shared her favourite bacon and spinach pie recipe with us at INside Magazine.

• 2 sheets puff pastry• 1 onion, chopped• 4 bacon rashers, diced• 250g chopped spinach, frozen• 6 eggs• 250ml cream• ½ cup cheddar cheese• 100g fetta

1. Preheat oven to 170° C Spray a 20cm pie dish with oil. Place in puff pastry sheets and scrunch edges. Prick the base and sides and bake for 15 minutes.2. Fry off bacon and onion in pan until golden brown. Add spinach cooked down. Pour mixture into pastry case. Mix together eggs, cream, cheddar and fetta in a bowl. Pour into pastry case. Cook for 30-40 minutes until puffed and golden.3. Serve with a garden salad, dressing and chips.

METHOD

To sample Janine’s decadent pie (and trust us, it’s definitely worth it!), make sure to visit Uptown Coffee Lounge, located beside Kmart.
