Press-fit cupFor more than 20 years, FH ORTHOPEDICS has specialized in the manufacturing of cementless total hip prosthesis.The ESOP cup (Atlante 2)® was developed using this expertise and the latest technological advances in terms of bearing, metallurgy and instrumentation.

ConceptThe concept of the ESOP (Atlante 2)® cup is bases on our experience with the Atlante 1 metal-back, in use since 2001, combined with current bearing couples.The ESOP (Atlante 2)® cup provides surgeons with a choice according to the indications and the age of the patients, between:: - a TRIANON® highly cross-linked polyethylene liner;- a DELTA solid ceramic insert.Both types of inserts allow large diameter heads to be used.

Range and materialsThe range of cementless rigid ESOP (Atlante 2)® cups counts 10 sizes, from diameter 46 to 64mm, in 2mm increments.The metal-backs are made out of Ti A16 V4 titanium alloy. The external surface is sand-blasted then hydroxyapatite coated. The inserts are made out of:- TRIANON® highly cross-linked polyethylene- Biolox® Delta® ceramic with a titanium ring

Metal-back press fitThe ESOP (Atlante 2)® rigid cup metal-back is a hemispheric cup with an equatorial flare; the serrated macrostructures gives it excellent press-fit and primary fixation.

Metal-backThe internal face of the metal-back was designed to provide perfect fixation of inserts. The ceramic inserts are fixed by wedging, using a micro-threaded 14° morse taper.The PE liners are fixed with a clipping groove. 12 machined notches also hold the slots in the polyethylene to angle it in 30° steps.The cup has three holes so that flat-head titanium cancellous bone screws can be used when necessary, available in sizes 15 to 60 mm (a screw rack is supplied with the instrument set).

PE linerThe ESOP (Atlante 2)® cup polyethylene liners are highly cross-linked (TRIANON®). This material allows large heads to be used (32mm to 36mm).The TRIANON® polyethylene have 12 notches to angle the exterior wall. The lip enables the inserts to be fixed by clipping into the cup. These liners are available in diameters 28, 32 and 36mm, with a flat-edge (type Charnley) or with a 4 mm posterior wall (called STANDARD PE).

Ceramic insertThe solid ceramic inserts for the ESOP (Atlante 2)® cup are Biolox® Delta® alumina with a factory-set titanium ring. This enables the use of big diameter heads, sizes Ø32 and Ø36mm. The fixed titanium ring with its internal groove enables easy fitting using a gripper and correct positioning of the implant. The titanium ring also facilitates extraction when it is required.
