If brick laying is too slow

Cement blocks are much larger. They come

in sizes of wall thickness. They are cast insteel forms and vibrated to increase density

and hardness.

Do not use cement blocks that were not

vibrated. They easily crumble and break.

Tongue and Groove

If tongue and groove is provided the blocks

interlock and do not need mortar in thevertical joint. This makes laying very easy.

Apply mortar and set the block by moving it

into the groove. Level the block straight

away. This is all.

Cavity

Cavities reduce the weight and increase theinsulation of the blocks. Heat and cold are

less transferred through the wall.

The cavity does not reduce the strength of theblock if the cement mixture is correct.

Disadvantages

Buildings built with cement blocks do not

provide a good living environment like brick

buildings.

Bricks are more natural, temperate and

insulate much better and do not sweat like

concrete blocks that make the climate in the

building rather humid.
