PRIMARY IMPACT
CRUSHERSA P - P A N D A P - P M S E R I E S
The single rotor AP-P Series impact crushers are ideally
suited to crush medium-hard compact rock and can furnish
a product size of 0 –150 mm (6”) or 90% minus 80 mm
(3”) when equipped with an additional grinding path
(AP-PM Series) limiting the upper product size to ideal
Vertical Roller Mill or Roller Press feed.
HAZEMAG can supply the appropriate machine, or
appropriate complete plant, whatever the primary crushing
application may be: stationary, semi-mobile, mobile.
HAZEMAG impact crushers can handle individual lumps
of feed material up to 8 tons in weight and 3 m3 (100 cu.ft)
in volume, effecting the comminution process in a single
pass at capacities of over 2200 tons/hour. Even feed
material with a high moisture content up to 15% H2O can
be processed without any problems by the provision of
indirect heating of feed plates and impact aprons through
installation of a circulating thermal oil heating system.
HAZEMAG impact crushers are insensitive to unbreakableinclusions in the feed material thanks to pendulum-mounted
impact aprons. They can be retractable, mechanically
mounted or controlled by hydraulic cylinder for manual or
automatic adjustment of gap settings
to determine
product size.

The unique HAZtronic® electro-hydraulic control system
for impact aprons and grinding path allows automatic
gap adjustment, product size control, compensation of
blow bar wear and protection against tramp metal. On
the entry of tramp metal into the impactor, the first impact
apron retracts immediately on contact, at the same time
initiating the retraction of the second apron and the grind-
ing path (if fitted), allowing the tramp metal to pass through
the impactor and minimizing possible damage.
As soon as the problem has been resolved, the impact
aprons return automatically to their original settings, thus
reducing to a minimum the percentage of unwanted over-
size in the product. If the impactor is additionally fitted
with a variable-speed drive, all the main parameters can
be varied to influence the product granulometry by
HAZtronic® control.

GSK-Type Rotor
The blow bars are mechanically clamped in the rotor and held in position by wedge-type spacers which can be
removed to the side as required. The design is such that it permits blow bar changing in both the radial or axial
direction. The axial exchange does not require dismantling of spacer wedges and is performed by means of a
clamping device. The blow bars have a utilization rate of approx. 45%.
GKH-Type Rotor
The blow bars are clamped in the rotor blow bar holders by hydraulically-actuated wedges. Thanks to its rugged
design and firmly-clamped blow bars, this rotor can cope with the most arduous operating conditions. Blow barturning/changing is effected in the radial direction and is facilitated by the use of a special blow bar changing
device installed at the front hinged crusher housing section. The blow bars have a utilization rate of approx. 50%.

Primary crushing calls for heavy rotors with rugged, torsion-
free rotor bodies providing a very high moment of inertia.
Thus the latest HAZEMAG rotors are designed as cast
steel rotors consisting of high quality cast steel disks joined
together by annular welds applied in a special and patented
continuous welding process. The machined rotor bodies are
secured to the rotor shaft by special clamping devices,
which simultaneously act as an emergency coupling.
Since HAZEMAG impactors not only have considerably
fewer impact tools compared with hammer crushers, butalso offer far shorter down time for exchange of these
tools, it is important to note that the latest HAZEMAG
design features have achieved significant progress in
reducing maintenance costs, especially when compared
with hammer crushers.
The rotor is the "heart” and the most severely tested part
of an impactor and plays a vital role in the comminution
process. Consequently, during the course of HAZEMAG’s
50-year existence, particular emphasis has been placed
on rotor design and development for the various fields of
application.

AP-S and AP-SM Series impactors are preferably used for
the crushing of medium-hard rock, and can handle – depen-
ding on the machine size and application – a material of
up to 600 mm (24”) feed size to create a product 0 – 35
mm (11/3”). Equipping with a grinding path reduces the
percentage of oversize.
AP-SH and AP-SMH Series impactors offer the advantages
of hydraulically adjustable impact aprons and grinding
paths including the option of applying the latest HAZtronic®
control. This "intelligent" crusher generation incorporates
numerous innovative features which increase operational
efficiency and cost effectiveness. The rotor is an enclosed
rugged cast steel design which is characterized by a very
high moment of inertia coupled with excellent wear-resist-
ant qualities.
The blow bars have been designed for single-face use but
with a very high degree of utilization. It has thus been
possible to reduce their overall weight, making them much
easier to handle. The blow bar retainers are self-clamping
and easy to release. AP-K and AP-KM Series impactors
are designed specifically for crushing of more abrasive
materials. Depending on the size of machine and appli-
cation, these impactors can handle feed material of up to
300 mm (12”) to furnish a product 0 – 45 mm (13
/4”).Extremely favourable wear rates and minimum mainte-
nance requirements are just two of their distinctive
features. AP-KH and AP-KMH Series impactors
offer in addition the advantages of hydrauli-
cally adjustable impact
aprons and grinding
paths including the option
of applying the latest
HAZtronic® control.

HAZEMAG feed and discharge units play a vital role in
HAZEMAG plant engineering.
HAZEMAG Apron Conveyors are used mainly as hop-
per extraction and crusher feed units in primary crushing
plants. The rugged design with infinitely-variable mecha-
nical or hydraulic drive has been successfully used in
countless operations under extremely demanding conditi-
ons worldwide.
The new generation of apron conveyors make use of high
quality, lifetime lubricated tractor chains and rollers, thus
increasing availability, economizing investment and mini-
mizing maintenance.
HAZEMAG Chain Conveyors are used mainly for hopper
extraction of lighter materials and as spillage conveyors
underneath apron feeders.
HAZEMAG Push Feeders are very rugged hopper
discharge units, which can be supplied with infinitely-
variable mechanical or hydraulic drives.
HAZEMAG Roller Grates (Wobblers) are used predomi-
nantly for the pre-screening of feed materials. They can
be applied also as combined hopper discharge and pre-
screening units, representing a particularly compact and
favourably-priced solution.

HAZEMAG UNIROTOR (single-rotor)
and NOVOROTOR (double-rotor)
hammer mills are used for fine grin-
ding and combined drying & grin-
ding of cement raw materials,
burnt lime, dry mortar and
other construction materials. Their application in the
cement and burnt lime industry enables the capacity of
downstream tube mills to be considerably increased.
They are characterized in particular by the versatility of
their design, which permits optimum adaptation to the
specific application. Plants are designed to include screens
or classifiers, etc. according to process demands. Wear
parts, such as grinding paths, grates and hammers are
well accessible and easy to change/replace.
In the UNIROTOR hammer mill, the direction of rotation
of the rotor is reversible, ensuring optimum utilization of the hammers without the requirement to turn them when
one face is worn.
In order to optimize the plant design - particularly in the
case of new processes - testing of customers‘ material in
HAZEMAG’s modern, comprehensively equipped test
facilities is recommended.

DRYERSR A P I D D R Y E R S
Simultaneous crushing and drying may be required
because a material is too coarse for a dryer alone.
HAZEMAG designs and builds complete Crusher/Dryer
plants for materials such as clay, limestone etc. with initial
moisture contents up to 30% H2O and capacities up to
600 tons/hour. Their application in the cement industry
enables the capacity of downstream tube mills to be con-
siderably increased.
HAZEMAG Crusher/Dryers combine the drying process
with the very effective impact crushing process. The crush-
ing operation creates the much larger material surface area
to provide the conditions for an optimum exchange of
heat between hot gases and feed material. There are two
designs of machine, single and double rotor versions.
HAZEMAG Rapid Dryers fitted with agitator shafts are
used as short-residence dryers for granular, plastic or
sludge-type materials (e.g. pozzolane, blast furnace slag,
clay, marl, gypsum, kaolin filtercake). Operating according
to the parallel flow principle, wet material and hot gases
pass through the dryer in the same direction, during which
time the agitator paddles swirl the wet material around to
attain a large material surface area, resulting in an inten-sive but at the same time thermally favourable drying
effect by the hot gases. The air sealing
system is provided by HAZEMAG
pendulum flap gates or rotary gate val-
ves. In most cases, optimum plant design
is preceded by exhaustive tests
carried out on customers‘ mate-
rial in HAZEMAG’s state of
the art test facilities.
