Report of Celebration of Vigilance Awareness Week-2013 at Rain Forest Research

Institute, Jorhat (Assam)

The Central Vigilance Commissioner, Government of India, had decided to observe

Vigilance Awareness Week-2013 from 28th

October to 2nd

November, 2013. This year’s

theme of the Week is ‘Promoting Good Governance - Positive Contribution of Vigilance’.

Rain Forest Research Institute, Jorhat also has observed this Week with various events.

The Week began with the taking of ‘Vigilance Pledge’ by the employees of the Institute to

fight against corruption. The ‘Vigilance Pledge’ was administered by Dr. N. S. Bisht,

Director of this institute. The Week also marked with various competitions among the

employees of the Institute.

An Essay writing competition was held on 29th

October, 2013 on the topic: Honesty in

public life. Three best writers were selected for 1st, 2

nd and 3

rd positions. They are Dr. Praveen

Kumar Verma, Sri Tafzil Ali and Ms Nayanmoni Saikia respectively. Dr. T. C. Bhuyan

assisted in judging the Essays.

On 29th

October, 2013, Extempore Speech competition was organized. The competition was

conducted by Dr. Dhrubajyoti Das and Dr. I. P. Borah. Results of Extempore Speech

competition are as follows:

1st Position: Sri Niren Das

2nd

Position: Mr. Ajay Kumar

3rd

Position: Mr. Tafzil Ali & Ms Nayanmoni Saikia

Consolation Prize: Mrs. Nibedita Dutta

On 30th

October, 2013 an invited lecture was delivered by Sri Vikram Singh, Administrative

Officer, CSIR- NEIST, Jorhat on the main theme of this year’s Week i.e. ‘Promoting Good

Governance - Positive Contribution of Vigilance’

A Quiz Competition was organized on 31st October, 2013 among the members of RFRI

family. Overwhelming response was received from competitors as well as audience. The

Competition was conducted by Dr. R. K. Borah and assisted by Sri R. K. Kalita, Dr. D. Dutta,

Sri Bhuban Kachari, Sri Nilabh Chandra Das, Sri Godwin Sangma and Ms Krishna Dutta.

Three teams were adjudged for first three positions:

1st Position was held by ‘Godwin Austin Group” comprising of Shri Basanta Nayak,

Shri Protul Hazarika & Miss Tinamoni Dutta

2nd

Position was held by ‘Shiwalik Group’ comprising of Dr. Dhrubjyoti Das, Dr.

Praveen K. Verma & Shri Ajay Kumar

3rd

Position was held by ‘Vindhya Group’ comprising of Shri Amar Jyoti Gogoi, Shri

Santanu Dulakakharia & Shri Rinkumoni Bora

Two Best Audiences were selected who gave maximum number of questions thrown to the

audience. They are Mr. Nilanjal Gogain and Sri Utpal Bora

A ‘Slogan Competition’ was also conducted among the employees. Three best Slogans were

selected among the competitors. Dr. D. Dutta & Dr. Prosanta Hazarika assisted in judging the

slogans.

Prize for second best Slogan goes to Sri Tafzil Ali

Prize for third best Slogan goes to Sri Pratul Hazarika

Valedictory Session was organized on 1st November, 2013. Dr. R. K. Borah, Group

Coordinator (Research) chaired the session. Prizes and Certificates were distributed to the

winners of various competitions.
