The Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Awards celebrate and recognise companies and individuals on a national level for excellence in WSH.

This year, we have a total of 190 award recipients. Over 90 companies that have displayed exceptional WSH standards will be recognised under the WSH Performance Awards.

The WSH Awards for Officers and Supervisors pay tribute to individuals for their contribution to WSH excellence and for their dedication in ensuring the safety and health of their workers.

The Risk Management Awards recognise companies for effectively implementing risk management to enhance safety and health performance in their organisations.

Lastly, the WSH Innovation Awards honour teams that have developed better, safer and healthier work processes and methods.

The WSH Council salutes all award recipients for their achievements and commitment to WSH.

It is Celanese’s philosophy that WSH excellence is a mind-set built into everything that the organisation does. The company believes that each employee must have an insatiable desire, drive, and commitment to create an incident-free workplace. To maintain high WSH standards, an employee engagement committee on WSH was formed by Celanese. The employee-led committee initiates and drives many WSH programmes within the company. Honeywell Aerospace Singapore Pte Ltd is delighted to win the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Silver Award. It is pleased with the efforts it has put in to make its workplace safer and healthier. For Honeywell Aerospace, winning the award is an affirmation of its efforts in WSH.

Honeywell Aerospace is especially proud of its Behaviour Observation Program (BOP). The BOP was established to allow employees to conduct peer-to-peer observations, and provide feedback on both good behaviour and improvement opportunities within the workplace. When reviewing HSE programmes, the improvement opportunities identified in the programme are also taken into consideration by the HSE and management team to enhance the effectiveness and applicability of each programme.

The BOP programme, along with its other WSH efforts, has contributed to Honeywell Aerospace’s 4,000 accident-free days and counting.

Sembawang Shipyard Pte Ltd is one of Singapore’s leading shipbuilding and repair facilities. While recent advancement in automation technology has greatly improved its employees’ work processes, direct shielded metal arc welding or stick welding remains a common work activity.

Existing welding equipment provides electrical power to the welding electrode holder, but is unable to provide additional connections to the quiver for concurrent heating of electrodes. As a result, Sembawang Shipyard employees are exposed to a number of safety risks including tripping, electrical and fire hazards.

To reduce safety issues with welding, the team came up with the “T-Connector,” a device that allows for heating up of the quiver and welding works to be carried out concurrently. The “T-Connector” is now a standard issue for all welders at Sembawang Shipyard.
