This free local monthly guide tool to (traditional and original) live acoustic roots music is assembled by Larry Bruner and Wanda Finley, with various venue schedules collected by guitarist Joe Rollin Porter; dance details by Heidi Nemeth -- THANKS EVERYONE!

This is an incomplete digest of selected calendar items, only a start. We urge you to support the growing number of other local events which also feature live acoustic roots music. We also are reminded these are future items subject to change.

Legend 3”x3” pictures are cover art of a brand new CD from the artist

outdoor music event = seating may or may not be provided

house/small hall concert = an informal, up close and personal listening often in someone’s home by invitation

dance opportunity = contra, English country, swing, polka

participatory event = open mike (take turns), jam (play with others), community sing

Asterisks * = HELP WANTED- some of these once-recurring events no longer exist. Your persistent feedback is essential. We need your help - - please, let us know corrections by email. ** = At “all ages” Beachland, Grog Shop and Musica shows, an additional $2 fee will be charged at the door for patrons younger than the age of 21. *** = A Wilbert’s show that is “Free admission, pay as you go” no door charge: when the basket is passed, or when you leave, pay what you think the music deserves.

HELP NEEDED

I regret to announce this current calendar is my last.

This is not a suicide note. I am not going away, I just can’t keep up with the work. The “A Ha moment” came during a lengthy brain freeze, between keyboard shortcuts when I realized our deadline was passing and we’d hit a high watermark: already 50 pages of events data without yet including the flagship venues: The Kent Stage, Beachland Tavern and Ballroom, Music Box Supper Club and Concert Hall.

But, as my health deteriorates, my ability to speak, to type, to stay alert, or even to see straight, means the monthly job has become too difficult for me to continue.

As I approach my 76th year, in my 17rh year of Parkinson's disease progression, I do need to focus on more therapeutic activity and enjoy my end of life issues.

The sudden passing of volunteer calendar contributor Ed Ollick in April was a real wake up call. Wanda and Joe are willing to continue gathering, formatting, and entering dates, and I can help. We need someone to put it together.

Larry
