Alfie’s Egg Game!Can you make these eggs into faces? Try a smiling face, a very cross face, a sad face and a silly face. Eyes, eye-brows and mouths all show how a person is feeling, and hats, beards and hairstyles can all help. How about wild hair or a green moustache! Will they have big ears or pointy ears? Have fun making the faces look as different as you can – you can photocopy this sheet to have lots of blank eggs to fill in!

Alfie’s Egg Game!Here are some examples, to give you an idea of how to fill your eggs in!



Make Your Own Party Cakes!Alfie loves birthdays, and he loves parties too, even if he finds them a little bit scary to start with. There’s no better way to celebrate a special day than with cake. Here is a recipe to make fairy cakes.

This recipe is for the family to enjoy making together. Children, don’t forget that you must have an adult with you, to help with making your cakes.

Ingredients:125g unsalted butter, softened125g caster sugar1 teaspoon vanilla extract2 large eggs125g self-raising flour, sifted2 tablespoons milk

You will need:A mixing bowlA wooden spoonBaking trays for small fairy cakesPaper casesDecoration materials!

Makes 12-16 fairy cakes

1. First, preheat the oven to 190OC (gas mark 5) and prepare your baking trays by placing paper cases in them. 2. Then, cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl. Stir in the vanilla extract.3. Add the eggs, one at a time, with a spoonful of flour inbetween. Mix thoroughly. 4. Now, add in the rest of the flour, again mixing thoroughly.5. Add the milk and stir it in; if your mixture drops nicely off the spoon you are ready. If it’s still a bit thick, then add more milk. 6. Place a heaped tablespoon of the mixture into each of the paper cases, and put into the oven. 7. Bake for 12 minutes or until cooked through. They should be golden-brown on top, and a skewer inserted into the cake should come out clean. 8. Allow to cool before decorating your cakes. You can dust with icing sugar or cocoa, or mix some icing sugar with a little water for icing. Decorate your cakes with silver balls, hundreds-and- thousands, jelly sweets or chocolate buttons – whatever you like!

All About Bontings!One fine morning Alfie went into his back garden and found a very special stone. He put it in his pocket and he called it Bonting. A lot of children have their own special Bonting. Some have whole collections, beautifully painted. One interesting thing about stones is their shape, and wondering how old they are. You can find lovely Bontings everywhere. If you don’t have a garden, the park or the seaside are excellent places to look for them.

Make Your Own Bunting!Instructions: Print out several copies of this page. First, decorate the triangles however you like - perhaps colour them in, or you could write a message across several triangles. Next, ask an adult to help you cut them out, and to pop a hole in each corner, using the circles as guides. Then you can thread string through the holes. Now you’ll have a beautiful string of bunting to decorate your kitchen or garden, or anywhere you like!

You can use your bunting for: - Weddings - Birthday Parties - Holidays - To decorate your bedroom
