Anyone who has marvelled at Sir George Gilbert Scott’s design for

London’s St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel will find something familiar and remarkable at Kelham Hall.

A Key figure of mid-Victorian Gothic architecture, Scott had originally been commissioned by the Manners-Sutton family to add a conservatory to the house which had already been rebuilt in the early 1700s, and then extended between 1844 and 46. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately for Gilbert Scott, in 1857 a fire destroyed the older parts of the house and the architect was left with a blank canvas on which to express all the exuberance of his imagination.

The result is a redbrick riot of Gothic styles, with towers, gables, arcades, exquisitely carved columns and fireplaces, and more than a score of different window designs.

For 70 years Kelham Hall became home to an Anglican order of monks, gaining it’s impressive domed chapel, and today it remains a wonderful hidden treasure of English rural architecture and a magical setting for your perfect day.

Civil ceremonies are available in a choice

of five licensed rooms and our beautiful summer house offers ‘open air’ ceremonies overlooking the riverside meadow.

Religious ceremonies are also available at St. Wilfrid’s, a beautiful 12th century church, set within the grounds of the Hall.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall provides a unique and stunning setting. Built in the byzantine style of brick and concrete, it still retains the impressive ‘flying archway’ providing the most dramatic backdrop.

The Great Hall and it’s balcony area provide a wonderful space which can be dressed and decorated to meet your requirements and can accommodate the largest of celebrations.

Our state-of-the-art audio visual package includes a HD projector, 300 inch drop down screen, line array sound system and full lighting and effects package.

The carriage Court

The magnificent Carriage Court is centrally located within Kelham Hall and is perfectly proportioned, providing a grand, but intimate setting for your celebration.

The Drawing Room

Originally used by the Manners-Sutton family to entertain guests, the Drawing Room is filled with rich decoration, including the delightful hand-painted ceiling and fabulous fireplace, whilst large windows look out directly over Kelham’s extensive gardens.

The Music Room

Designed by renowned architect Sir George Gilbert Scott for large, formal occasions, the Music Room was used by the Manners-Sutton family to entertain their guests with live musicians.

The Music Room features a magnificent stone baronial fireplace and a stunning vaulted ceiling. The large windows overlooking the stunning grounds and a beautifully decorated ceiling offer a majestic setting.

We appreciate that weddings are a significant expense and our pre-payment discount scheme is therefore a very popular option.

When full payment is received within four weeks of the initial viewing 15% discount will be applied to your total bill, this will be discussed in more detail at your initial meeting.

We recommend wedding insurance, which is widely available at very affordable rates. Insurance for your big day is essential and can cover not only payments but also items such as the dress or presents received.
