INTRODUCTIONThe CEL range of feeder pillars has been tried and tested in an extensive variety of applications and conditions to prove their durability against the elements and the rigours of all urban and rural environments. CEL provides one of the most comprehensive ranges of feeder pillars, both shells and pre-wired with distribution equipment, in the UK market, with a range of sizes and options to suit a wide variety of applications.

The range includes Mini pillars manufactured from 3mm mild steel to Maxi double door pillars manufactured from 5mm mild steel. Pillars are also manufactured in Grade 304 or 316 stainless

steel and GRP. Standard finish is hot dipped galvanised to BSEN ISO 1461, but all pillars can be powder coated to RAL or BS colours with options of anti-graffiti and HA specifications.

CEL are committed to providing excellent quality and service and have made a deliberate investment in finished stock to ensure the promptest delivery times.

All products are designed, manufactured and inspected under stringent Quality Control Systems resulting in products and service levels which comply with, or exceed, the requirements of current legislation and regulations.

Specialist Feeder PillarsCEL have built their success on listening to customers, and have designed pillars to suit specific applications.

Folding Pillar (FFP) Folding supply pillar providing unobtrusive temporary power supplies (two RCBO protected sockets) which only operate in the vertical position offering safe operation in open spaces. When not in use the pillar folds away discreetly.

3 Strong design to withstand foot and vehicle traffic

3 Options of manufacture in galvanised steel or stainless steel

3 Pillar is raised, locked upright and opening covered in one smooth operation

3 Easy to raise and lower, due to maintenance free gas strut - max 20 kilo lift

3 All electrical parts sealed to IP67

3 Pillar is isolated in closed (lowered) position

3 Maximum 300mm planting depth to avoid underground services

3 Trough for surface dressing allows matching of surrounding area

Fibre Glass Range (GRP)3 Single (GRP320) and Double Door (GRP350) versions

3 GRP composite to provide max ‘U’ value of 3.0W/m2 Deg C (thermal insulation)

3 30 minute fire resistance to BS476 Part 22

3 Self-extinguishing laminate to BS476 Part 7 Class 2

3 Designed Ingress Protection IP54

3 2No internal stainless steel, bonded in, hinges per door

3 2No tri-head locks fitted as standard - other lock options available

3 Fitted with 10mm external grade and treated ply backboard

3 Standard external finish smooth gel-coat colour green or grey (other RAL or BS colour options available)

3 Base flange for fixing to prepared concrete base (we strongly recommend a ‘stepped’ base to ensure integrity of weatherproof seal)

Project Specific Bespoke Solutions

CEL also offer a design service, working with the client from the conception of a project to delivery.

Everybody in the Supply Chain has a responsibility to ensure that the product is safe, from the specifier, to CEL as the manufacturer, to the installer.

All CEL distribution equipment is designed, manufactured and tested to BSEN 60439-1. A design is prepared under instruction from the Specifier who receives a CAD drawing giving details of layout, together with a unique reference which can be used in the specification documentation.

When a project comes to construction phase, Design and Assembly work closely together to ensure build complies with the design. Quality systems under ISO 9001:2008 are followed throughout the manufacture.

On completion, all distribution equipment is tested using calibrated instruments, with the results being recorded. All assemblies are inspected both mechanically and electrically. Electrical continuity of the protective circuits is checked.

A Certificate of Type Test is produced and included in the O&M Manual supplied with the product.

To provide full traceability, all completed distribution pillars are supplied complete with a name plate affixed showing: 3 Identity number3 Standard3 Rated Operational Voltage Ue3 Rated Insulation Voltage Ui3 Degree of Protection3 Date of Manufacture

Riverside Resource Recovery Facility

Location: South Bank of River Thames, Belvedere

The RRR Facility is an energy recovery plant planned as an alternative to a landfill site. The facility is a river-served recovery plant with waste delivered by barges and tugs. The plant generates its own power and exports power to the National Grid.

Specification: A bespoke feeder pillar, with a footprint of 2800mm x 900mm, consisting of two standard feeder cubicles in a ‘back to back’ arrangement to service the following:

General PowerSub Mains Circuit Low voltage 110V centre tapped earth socket outlets/connection units General area lighting and floodlighting Jetty Navigational Lighting and Emergency Lighting

The pillar was to be sited on a jetty. Therefore it was recommended that it be fabricated in 5mm 316 grade stainless steel to suit the marine environment. Electrical distribution panels to be in modular polycarbonate, IP65 enclosures, with the following general specification:

Material: Thermoplastic Application Areas: Harsh Environments/Outdoor Use Ambient Conditions: -5o C to +40o C Insulation: Protection Class II Impact Strength: IK 08 (5 Joule) to DIN EN 50 102 Ingress Protection: IP65 – Dust Proof & Water Jets Electrical Parameters: Rated Current 630A Insulation Voltage AC/DC 690 Burning Behaviour: Glow Wire Test 960o C to IEC 60 695-2-1 Temperature Resistance: -40°C up to +120°C UV Resistance: Direct Sun Radiation Chemical Resistance: Acid & Lye 10%, Petrol & Mineral Oil Toxic Behaviour: Silicon & Halogen Free

Design: After much discussion between CEL Designer and Consultant, a design was agreed, a unique product reference, PQ2909, allocated and outline drawings prepared and submitted to the client. The job subsequently went out to tender and prices were submitted by contractors.

Manufacture: Once the formal order was received, detailed circuit diagrams were prepared and submitted for approval. Several design changes occurred as the project progressed and once final design was approved, fabrication of the pillar and assembly of the electrical equipment began.

Testing: Carried out to BSEN 60439-1. Because of the very special requirements for this project the customer sent a representative to witness the test.

Delivery: Due to the nature of the site and the product, a specific delivery date and time was arranged.
