Child Sponsorship

We are currently accepting applications for child sponsorship for Elementary, High School, and Partial University expenses.

You can sponsor an Elementary child for $35 PER YEAR, a High School student for $120 PER YEAR and assist a University student for $100 per year. Our goal this year is to sponsor at least 50 children with a desire to sponsor 100 if the resources are available.

The slogan for the Department of Education in the Philippines is “Education is the Solution”. We hope to be part of the solution be helping mostly squatter children to get an education. Our program is a partnership between the parents, the students and our church. The parents attend church at least once a week, the students get good grades or come for free tutoring and we provide the funds, with your generosity. The children thank you in advance. The child you sponsor will write you a letter at the beginning of the school year and at the end of the year.

Greetings from Sunny California where I am still receiving medical treatment and from Cebu where Summer is in full swing and the church is doing fine.

On Easter Sunday we had a Sonrise service at Vaño beach with about 90-100 in attendance and where 7 were baptized. Brother Erwin did the message and Pastor Gerry did the baptism message and the actual baptism. Many unbelievers heard the message from our group and other groups around us. Many seeds were planted this day.

Men’s Advance

On April 29-May 1 I was blessed to be able to attend the CC Downey Men’s Advance held at Thousand Pines Camp in the mountains East of Downey. The Theme was “Reaching Forward” based on Philippians 3:13-14.

The speakers were Pastor Glenn, Pastor Hector, Pastor Yuri and Phil Moreno from CC Downey as well as Pastor Garid Beeler from CC Costa Mesa ad Pastor Andrew Cochran from CC Long Beach. It was a good time of refreshing and being filled and a good time of fellowship for all. (It was also very cold for a boy from the Philippines).

 Good Soil Seminar Evangelism and Discipleship

On April 15-16 we were honored to host a special seminar “Good Soil” with the emphasis on Evangelism and Discipleship. The Good Soil Evangelism and Discipleship seminars are designed to equip believers to use The Story of Hope and The Way to Joy (and other similar resources) as effectively as possible.The speakers were Ptr. Robert F. Trice, Jr. and Ptr. N. Craig Kennedy. There were 12 attendees from Shepherds Heart Calvary Chapel, 5 from Mandaue Gospel Church and 7 from Grace Baptist Church.

Youth Camp

On May 3-5, 2011, We sponsored 7 youth and 5 adults (Leaders at camp) to a youth camp on the Island of Samar as we once again came along side U-Turn for Christ. Pastor Gerry shared one of the messages and helped lead Worship while Sheilani and the other leaders helped wherever needed.

Health Update

I have now completed 1 of 30 required Hyperbaric Chamber Treatments and the Ulcers on my leg are showing good signs of healing as each of the 4 left are now growing new skin. We will know in 2 weeks if the infection in the bone is being affected in a positive way. Please keep this in prayer as I need to get back to my wife, the flock the Lord ha trusted me with and my dogs soon. The estimated time of returning is now May 31st.
