2. INTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABLE INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT: AS A WAY OF LIFE

Live & let live, let’s grow together, respecting mother Earth by maintaining balance between its resources. Sustainable integrated development has always been CEASID’s mantra & its way of life. And here in this primary session - the need, importance & how to do regular practice of amalgamating Sustainable Integrated Development with daily life will be taught by giving live case study examples of converting sustainable holistic living dreams into practical reality.

1. CEASID ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

It is the introductory welcome programme where CEASID Mentor Ar Shubha Mishra, Founder-Director-Mentor & Chief Architect CEASID, welcomes & interacts with the CEASID trainees & helps them in getting familiarize with the purpose of CEASID training programme in enriching life & about general CEASID activities, giving them the brief about the whole Summer/Winter school schedule.

4. COWDUNG FLOORING & CLADDING

Cow dung flooring & Cladding has been one of the oldest & most auspicious kind of techniques used in Indian villages since ages. It is organic, antiseptic, anti- termite, cost effective, sustainable & very easy to apply, enhancing the rustic milieu with its Holy Spirit, organic fragrance & marvelous binding properties. It is widely used in Central & Northern parts of India.

3. INTRODUCTION TO EARTH ARCHITECTURE

We all have been Earth Architects when we were kids. In this session we will see: why being ‘BACK TO THE EARTH’ has again become so important for our ‘contended survival’ & integral well-being now.

5. COB

Cob is a building construction technique consisting of clay, sand, straw, cow dung, water, and earth etc. Cob is fireproof, resistant to seismic activity and cost effective. It can be used to create artistic, sculptural forms and has been revived in recent years by the natural building and sustainability movements.

6. ADOBE

Adobe comes under moulded technique of earth architecture where earth is moulded either by hands, moulds or by machines into various shapes. Adobe structures are extremely durable & eco-friendly. Adobe is also referred as sun-dried bricks. The oldest documented building Ramasseum, Egypt of 1300 BC is also out of Adobe technique.

7, 8. WATTLE – DAUB & LOAM WALLS Wattle and daub is a composite, disaster resistant, sustainable & user-friendly. building technique used for making walls, in which a woven lattice of wooden strips/steel/bamboo/reeds called wattle is daubed with a sticky material usually made of some combination of wet soil, clay, sand, cow dung, gunny bags and straw.

9. EARTH-SHIP BIOTECTURE

An Earthship is a type of passive solar building made of mud along with natural and recycled materials (such as earth-filled tires, waste bottle, cans, containers etc.). These off-grid homes work as autonomous buildings using thermal mass construction and natural cross ventilation assisted by thermal draught (stack effect) to regulate indoor temperature.

10. GUIDED STUDY TOUR

CEASID Trainees will be taken to various local sites related to Sustainable & Earth Architecture under the guidance of our CEASID mentor & the team.

By the actual look & feel and studying the real structures made by the techniques taught during this summer/winter school, in the form of Theories, case studies, Practical Hands on training; now this guided study tour will truly contribute in converting the concepts of designing to reality & achieving perfection of practical knowledge by sustainable integrated holistic approach.

12. DESIGN PROJECT

After gaining the knowledge through seminars, case studies hands-on, study tours, discussions etc. during this CEASID Summer/Winter Architecture School, now CEASID Trainees will actually apply it with an integrated Sustainable holistic approach , by designing a small given Architectural project exercise in our

design studios. *Note: Colleges can combine their Design

studio exercises with us here.

13. WORK DOCUMENTATION & PRESENTATION

Trainees will be documenting the whole of their CEASID work till here (of their Seminars learning, hands-on sessions, Study tours, design studios etc.) & will be presenting them in the jury & will share with each other.

14 & 15. SOCIAL SERVICE FOR HUMANITY & NATURE

This is a free will session, as service for humanity & nature has to come from within & cannot be forced. Trainees will be offering their services to Old age homes/orphanage/ organic farming/ cleaning premises/ donating some time, toys, clothes, money, books, hobby equipments, providing basic education, donations, making ecofriendly products & donating them to the needed etc.

Invited experts from various fields: professors, Architects, Artists, Engineers, Technologists, Life coaches etc. are also welcome here to voluntarily present & share their valuable works with all of us. So kindly bring your best works to along with you to present.
