A Great Lesson on Stress A young lady confidently walked around the room while leading and explaining stress management to an audience with a raised glass of water. Everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, 'half empty or half full?'... She fooled them all .... "How heavy is this glass of water?" she inquired with a smile. Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. To 20 oz. She replied , "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "and that's the way it is with stress. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on." "As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden - holding stress longer and better each time practiced. So, as early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don't carry them through the evening and into the night... Pick them up tomorrow. 1 * Accept the fact that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue! 2 * Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them. 3 * Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it. 4 * Drive carefully... It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker. 5 * If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague. 6 * If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it. 7 * It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others. 8 * Never buy a car you can't push. 9 * Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on. 10 * Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance. 11 * Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late. 12 * The second mouse gets the cheese. 13 * When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane. 14 * Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live. 16 * Some mistakes are too much fun to make only once. 17 * We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box. 18 * A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour. 19 * Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you today. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY 20 *Save the earth..... It's the only planet with chocolate!*

DID YOU KNOW

Jesse was a chicken plucker. That's right. He stood on a line in a chicken factory and spent his days Pulling the feathers off dead chickens so the rest of us

Wouldn't have to. It wasn't much of a job. But at the time, Jesse didn't think he was much of a person. His father was a brute of a man. His dad was actually thought to be mentally ill. And treated Jesse rough all of his life. Jesse's older brother wasn't much better. He was always picking on Jesse and beating him up. Yes, Jesse grew up in a very rough home in West Virginia. Life was anything but easy. And he thought life didn't hold much hope for him. That's why he was standing in this chicken line, Doing a job that darn few people wanted. In addition to all the rough treatment at home, it seems That Jesse was always sick. Sometimes it was real physical illness, but way too often it was all in his head. He was a small child, skinny and meek. That sure didn't help the situation any. When he started to school, he was the object of every Bully on the playground. He was a hypochondriac of the first order. For Jesse, tomorrow was not always something he Looked forward to.

But, he had dreams. He wanted to be a ventriloquist. He found books on ventriloquism. He practiced with Sock puppets and saved his hard earned dollars until He could get a real ventriloquist dummy. When he got old enough, he joined the military. And even though many of his hypochondriac symptoms Persisted, the military did recognize his talents and

Put him in the entertainment corp. That was when his world changed. He gained confidence. He found that he had a talent for making people laugh, And laugh so hard they often had tears in their eyes. Yes, little Jesse had found himself. You know, folks, the history books are full of people Who overcame a handicap to go on and make a success Of themselves, but Jesse is one of the few I know of Who didn't overcome it. Instead he used his paranoia To make a million dollars, and become one of The best-loved characters of all time in doing it! Yes, that little paranoid hypochondriac, who transferred His nervousness into a successful career, still holds the Record for the most Emmy's given in a single category.

May 4th kicked off the 2013 ride schedule with a ride from 4th of July to

Harrison. And what a great turnout we had. Nineteen machines and twenty-two

people showed up. With the weather being nice it made for a great ride. Dan Hutchins did a

fine job leading the pack without getting us lost.

Dan took us on a new route down by Harrison that took us through the

countryside and kept us off the state route.

We encountered very little snow on the way down and even Jim Kane didn't get stuck.

Before I could even jump off and grab my winch cable, he was through it and down the trail.

To be honest Jim got new tires so he will be doing much better in the snow now.

We had lunch at the Gateway Marina in Harrison where we received fast and

friendly service. The food was really good as was the view of the lake from

the deck. By the way Gateway Marina is our new business member. Welcome aboard !

All in all it was a beautiful day with great views and good friends and it was nice to see

people i have not seen since last year. I might not remember everyone’s name but i

remember if i rode with them before. See ya on the trail ! Doug Lynch

(Below is a story about that extra fuel can we all carry. Most of us use one not only on our

ATVs, but at home filling our lawn mowers and gas weed eaters, this is something all of us

need to pay attention to. Dan)

This story is about using your fuel packs and how not to do it. This happened to me because I

wasn’t careful enough.

You know those fuel packs build up a lot of pressure bouncing around with the sun beating

down on them all day. So imagine filling them in Ohio with a elevation around 700 feet and

taking them to Utah to over 8000 feet. My fuel packs are swollen out of shape from doing

this and that’s tough plastic.

Anyhow, on one of my first trips to the Paiute trail I went to use my fuel pack and I cracked

the lid to release the pressure.

I listened to the hiss as the pressure released then I opened the lid completely. My mistake ?

I didn’t wait long enough, when that gas shot out of there it made Old Faithful look like my

lawn sprinkler. I had gas all over the front of me, in my face, eyes, hair.

We were next to a stream so I was able to wash my face and bottled water and the eye

drops I always carry to flush my eyes.

I was ready to go then but my buddy thought we should relax a little more over cigars.

Thinking back on it now, I realize that I don’t smoke hmmm. Actually, my buddy had eye

drop medicine (whats the odds) from a work issue that he shared with me.

Other then waking up the next morning with red eyes that a camera couldn’t duplicate, I

was no worse for wear and lucky.

So when you see me on the trail opening my fuel pack and it’s held to my side and my heads

turned away ,yea, I’m still gun shy. Lesson learned, just be sure ALL the pressure releases

before opening all the way. See you on the trail! Doug Lynch

(This is something that we all need to pay attention to when we are refueling our ATVs.

Remember to open slowly to vent all air. Do not refuel with the motor running. Try not to

spill fuel on yourself or your machine. Let your machine cool for a few minutes before

refueling. Above all, be safe, and be careful, let’s all have a safe and fun riding season.)

Wow, what a great weekend. A three-day weekend for me and just another day off for you retirees. The

weekend started Friday evening with our last of the season dinner night out. Dinner was at the Longhorn

Barbecue and we had a pretty good turnout there. Some people ordered off the menu and some of us had

the buffet. All that food laid out there to fatten us up. Ha, fooled them, I was fat when I walked in there.

Anyway, we had some good conversation along with good food and that made for a nice evening.

Dan and Karen Hutchins won the draw to pick the next restaurant when dinner night out resumes in the

fall.

Saturday morning brought the ride to Cataldo from 4th of July and another great turnout we had for this

ride. Eighteen machines and twenty-one people braved the elements, sun, and warm temps, to make this

trip. Dan did another fine job leading us on this trip and i brought up the rear. Of course, Dan had Karen

with him in the Razor to keep him on track and me, I like to bring up the rear because i like to take lots of

pictures and i don't like to hold up the line when i stop.

The ride to Cataldo went pretty smooth and we encountered very little snow, not even enough to get Jim

stuck. Jim rode back by me and that put him under my scrutiny waiting for him to do something noteworthy

but I knew when he got those new tires, picking on him was pretty much over with.

We arrived at the Mission Inn for lunch where Ann and her staff were expecting us. It's my understanding

that we were more than Ann expected as she was expecting ten or twelve riders. You would have never

have known that though since we received fast and friendly service. Most of us sat outside in the shade at

the picnic tables where we were waited on. Good food at the Mission Inn, that's the third time I have, ate

there and I have not heard any complaints. And if you remember my tie-rod incident from last year

they allowed me to leave my ATV there. Thanks to Ann and her staff for a enjoyable lunch. Ann just joined

us last month as a business member. Welcome aboard!

The ride back to 4th of July also went smooth with the usual awesome views from the mountaintops.

Wildlife? I don't know about anyone else but the only wildlife i saw

was dust mites. Good people, good weather=great ride! See you on the trail! Doug Lynch

CDA POLARIS BENEFIT RIDE JUNE 2th ATV/UTV

From I-90 Take the Kingston exit at the stop sign and turn left, and go

north up the CDA river to the Bumble Bee road turn left across river

turn right go 2 miles to Country Lane Resort. Starting at Country Lane Resort on north side of

CDA river rd on left side of highway) After the ride on trail 809, CDA Polaris as having a Raffle then

a silent auction. Then CDA Polaris is putting on a free BBQ to all that attend. All donations are

welcome.

BURNT CABIN RIDE JUNE 8th 9:00 am ATV/UTV (EASY)BCATV

This is a new ride. Meet at the Fernan Saddle parking lot. Take exit 15 East around

Fernan Lake stay on pavement to parking lot approx 8 miles to the top. Bring your

lunch and gas approximately 60 miles. Lunch will be at the Hudlow warming hut.

SHOOT OUT IN WOODS & FUN RUN JUNE 15TH 9:00am ATV/UTV 50” or

less (EASY) BCATV

9:00 am to 11:00 am Sign in for ride. Must be off trail by 3:00pm.

This is a new ride. Meet at 4th of July parking lot. Take exit 28, go too stop sign,

turn left cross the highway, and turn right at stop sign parking lot 1/4 th mile. If

coming from the east take exit 28 turn right to parking lot. We will have a BB gun

shoot to start out and then we will have a fun run on trail 800 and return to

parking lot by 3:00 pm. With a free BBQ put on by Back Country ATV.

BB gun shoot $1.00 per target or 6 for $5.00

Fun run $5.00 per hand or 5 for $20.00

Raffle $1.00 per ticket or 6 for $5.00

STRONG CREEK RIDE Sun June 16th 9:00 am

(Intermediate) ATV/NO UTVPRA

we will be leaving from hope grade school parking lot off of Sam Owen road.

Take highway 200 east of Sandpoint through hope to Sam Owen peninsula road.

Turn right and then make an immediate left turn and go up the hill to the parking

lot on the left. There is a 50 inch limit at the trail head. This ride has great views

of the lake. Don’t forget your camera bring your lunch as we will have it at Char

falls. Ride leader, Lloyd potter.

MAGEE RIDE JUNE 22th 8:00 am ATV/UTV (EASY)BCATV

Meet at the Bunco parking lot at 8:00 AM. Bring lunch and gas. Take the Bunco road located on the south

end of Silverwood Park on the east side of highway 95, follow the road, and signs to the parking lot.

Meet at the Bunco parking lot. Take the Bunco Rd. Located on the south end of Silverwood Park on the

or bring your own. Bring gas or get it at Kingston. This ride is approximately 120 miles round trip.

BALDY MTN, TO SCHWEITZER JULY 6TH,9:00am

(INTERMEDIATE)ATV/UTVPRA

Go north on hwy 95 through Sandpoint. Follow hwy 95 toward Canada, turn left at the stop light, at the

Conoco Service station onto Schweitzer MTN Rd. Proceed to the parking lot of Bonner county fairgrounds.

Ride will go up Baldy MTN Rd. To Baldy MTN. Then: continue to the backside of Schweitzer MTN great views of

Sandpoint and the lake. Bring lunch and gas, as the ride over Schweitzer is about 80 miles round trip.

SUNDANCE, MT, L.O. RIDE JULY 13th 9:00 am ATV/UTV (EASY) BCATV

This is a new ride. This ride is at Priest Lake and is a very pretty ride to the top of the Sundance Mt

Lookout. Bring your camera. Approximately 65 miles round trip bring gas if you think you need it. Take

highway 41 north from Rathdrum too Newport turn right on highway 2 and go to the town of Priest

River. Turn north (left) at the stoplight in Priest River onto highway 57. Go north on hwy 57

approximately 22 miles to Dickinsheet Rd meet at the intersection. Ride leader, Chad Hutchins.

Clark Fork –Bunco Merger Ride to Whisky Rock July 28th 8:00 AM

ATV/UTV (EASY)

This is a new ride between Back Country and Panhandle Riders.

We will have two starting points.

BCATV will meet at the Bunco parking lot. Take the Bunco Rd, located on the south end of

Silverwood Park on the east side of highway 95. Follow the road and signs to the parking

lot. Bring your lunch as we will eat at the whisky rock, may need to bring gas. From Bunco

ride leader, Arnold Howe BCATV.

PRA will meet at the Clark Fork High School. From Sandpoint go to Clark fork, turn left at

the Chevron service station then right into the parking lot. Bring your lunch as we will eat

Silver Dollar Bar Ride August 3rd 8:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY)BCATV

Meet at Wallace parking lot, take exit 61 go to the stop sign at bottom of off ramp. Turn

right, and then cross the street into the big dirt parking lot on your left. Lunch at the Silver

Dollar Bar, or bring your own. Gas available at the bar, or bring gas if you think you might

need it on the way. This is approximately 110 miles round trip. This will be a different

Silver Dollar Bar ride than we have had in the past. Ride leader Dan Hutchins BCATV

PORCUPINE LAKE AUGUST10TH 9:00am (INTERMEDIATE) ATV/NO UTV

From Sandpoint go towards hope, cross bridge at pack river and continue on hwy 200 up over small pass.

Just before small bridge turn left onto trestle creek road. Short distance down this road and we’ll see a

snowmobile parking area on the right. This is our starting point. This will be a road ride up over the pass

and down into the lightning creek drainage, to a point where we will Ford the river. There is a 50-inch limit

at the fording point. Then it is a trail ride to porcupine lake. Bring your lunch maybe some gas. Note this

ride will depend on the water level at the time of lightning creek crossing. Ride leader Thomas Leo/ john

Trout creek Montana ride August 24th 9:00 AM ATV/UTV (EASY)BCATV

Approximately 1 hour from CDA. East on I-90 and get off at the Kingston off ramp, turn left at

stop sign. Go north upriver approximately 30 miles when you hit the y just past the fire Dept

and H&H store stay to the left, just past the turn off for Prichard tavern turn right to go to

Murray go approximately 3 miles and turn left at the pond signs says settlers cedar grove. If

you get to Murray you went too far, come back 3 miles. This ride is a great camp out and

barbecue also. Starting point will be at eagle Idaho which is up the CDA River between

Prichard and Murray. Would like to hit the road at 10:00 AM and should be back around 3 or

4:00 pm. It is approximately 80 miles round trip, gas is available in trout creek, or bring your

own. We can stop at the Wayside Bar and Casino for lunch or we can find some shade trees if

we bring our own. It is a easy ride all dirt except for about 7 miles of pavement so we can

come back a different way. Now for something a little different, we start and finish at A little

private community called Eagle City Park, which there are about 100 camping spots, which I

own one. After the ride, I would like to see us have either a potluck or a barbecue. I have

arranged for us to use the Eagles Nest, which will hold 40 or 50 people it has tables, fire pits,

BBQ, covered area. Also if anyone wants to camp overnight there is plenty of room for

campers, trailers, tents. Everybody needs to be self-contained. We also have ice available for

cocktail hour or whatever.

AVERY RIDE SEPTEMBER 7TH 9:00 ATV/UTV (EASY)

Meet at Wallace parking lot, take exit 61 go to the stop sign at bottom of off ramp. Turn right, then cross the

street into the big dirt parking lot on your left. Lunch at Avery or bring it, bring gas if you think you need it, or

get gas at Avery. Approximately 70 miles. Ride leader Doug lynch.

FERN FALLS RIDE SEPTEMBER 14TH 9:00 ATV/UTV (EASY)

This is a new ride. Going east on I-90 from CDA take the Kingston exit # 43 go too stop sign and turn left.

Proceed north up the Coeur D’Alene River to Forest Rd 209 turn left cross river to parking area on left. (This

ride is still in planning stages) more info to come.

Clark Fork Ride September 21ST 9:00 am ATV/UTV (EASY)

Meet at the Bunco parking lot. Take the Bunco Rd located on the south end of Silverwood park on the

east side of highway 95. Follow the road and signs to the parking lot. This is a different Clark Fork ride

than we have had in the past. Eat lunch in Clark Fork or bring it, bring gas or get it in Clark Fork. This is a

very pretty ride so bring your camera. Approximately a 110 miles. Ride leader Ken Chrisp BCATV

There are more rides yet to come, as we will probably ride in to late October.
